Chapter 67

Theodore noticed Charlie deliberately targeting him, his eyes flashing coldly. Joe and the crew knew it was time to leave, turning and heading outside. Theodore didn't move, declaring, "I am her husband."

Joe and the crew, who hadn't gone far, were stunned. They whipped their heads around, staring in shock. Husband? Were they legally married? What about the imagined love triangle?

Janet, who had been following, reached the door, unaware of Theodore's announcement. She entered the lounge, her face calm, but inwardly burning with jealousy. Why did Rebecca have such a lovely lounge? It was because Theodore and Charlie had poured money into the production—twenty million from Theodore, forty million from Charlie. What did Rebecca deserve? Why did so many people like her? She was just an orphan.

Janet suppressed her jealousy, turning to Theodore with a soft expression. "Theodore, it's getting late. We should go back and rest," she said gently. She wanted Theodore. Since her pregnancy, she'd been determined to marry him—partly because she loved him, and partly because of the media's reaction to her pregnancy. She couldn't lose him or her career.

Janet's words floored Joe and the crew. What kind of mess was this? Was this the life of the rich and powerful? They'd thought Theodore was visiting Janet, but he'd invested twenty million, and Charlie forty million. Now, Theodore shamelessly insisted on staying in Rebecca's lounge, declaring himself her husband.

Janet had some nerve. Had female stars become so audacious? Her schemes were practically in the legitimate wife's face. But more shocking was the question of Rebecca and Charlie. A top-tier actor and a wealthy young lady? There were too many juicy tidbits!

Rebecca glared at Theodore, baffled. Hadn't he wanted a divorce every day? Now, she was ready to part ways, too. They should have divorced and lived their own lives. Was it really just because the kids didn't take his last name? What a joke! He'd threatened their lives—did he ever care for the kids then?

Rebecca raised her hand to slap Theodore. He raised his own to stop her. Debra kicked Theodore, sending him stumbling backward.

"Theodore!" Janet rushed to support him. He managed to save face, but his fury raged. Kicked again! Was kicking a Carter family trait? Had Charlie taught them? Rebecca had spat at him before, and now she was about to hit him?

Theodore glared at Rebecca. "Rebecca, so you insist on hanging out with them, don't you? Just don't forget your status. You are still a married woman!" he roared.

That afternoon, two female bodyguards appeared by Rebecca's side, following her every move—Theodore's arrangement. Debra called the police. Stalking was illegal. News of the bodyguards caused the Edwards' stock to plummet.

Michael, in Maeloria, learned the truth and ordered Theodore to return. With Theodore gone, peace returned to the set. Janet's cameo was filmed in two days.

Without eyesores, Rebecca enjoyed her time on set. She dedicated herself to her role, practicing daily and rehearsing at home, often getting guidance from Charlie. Joe watched her improve, and she nailed three scenes in one take during filming.

A month later, all the sister scenes were completed. Joe was pleased, feeling Charlie and Rebecca were real siblings, on and off screen. Their resemblance and interaction gave off a strong brother-sister vibe. He wondered if he was imagining things, but he believed he'd made the right casting choice. He even had a hunch Rebecca's portrayal might become popular.
