Chapter 66
Charlie didn't even look back, ignoring the furious Theodore. He simply walked away. Theodore was so angry he nearly choked.
Meanwhile, Rebecca waited anxiously. The moment she saw Charlie return, she rushed over. "Bro… How did it go? Did he give you a hard time?" she asked, her eyes scanning him with worry. She feared a repeat of their last mountain incident, a fight during a reality show shoot.
Debra also observed her son. After ensuring he wasn't injured, she nodded in satisfaction. Seeing his mother and sister’s concerned looks, Charlie said, exasperated, "I'm fine. He wouldn't dare touch me."
Not far away, Janet watched. Seeing Rebecca and Charlie together, she smirked mockingly. However, she was more concerned with Theodore. When he emerged, she ran over. "Theodore." Noticing dust on his pants, she took out a tissue and brushed it off.
Feeling the movement, Theodore tensed, especially around his rear. He instantly stepped away. Startled, Janet hastily explained, "Theodore, your pants were dirty. I… I just wanted to help."
"Get lost!" Theodore's face darkened, recalling the earlier kick. He cursed at her.
Nearby crew members noticed the commotion. Hearing Theodore tell Janet to leave, they whispered: "Aren't Mr. Edwards and Janet a couple?" "I heard Janet's child is his." "Mr. Edwards came to visit Janet on set today." "Isn't his attitude a bit…" They glanced at Janet, then quickly averted their eyes.
Chapter 66
In the entertainment industry, many actresses dream of marrying wealthy men. Their public relationships might seem sweet, but only they know the reality. Janet noticed others seeing her being scolded. Her expression soured.
"Theodore, it's getting late. Do you want to go inside for a nap? I have a resting room," Janet said, suppressing her emotions and using her sweetest voice. A tinge of anticipation colored her words. Would he agree? If so, they'd be alone.
Theodore looked at Janet with undisguised disgust, then turned to Rebecca. "Rebecca, where's your resting room?" Rebecca was utterly baffled.
Charlie and Debra became vigilant, their eyes fixed on Theodore.
Not far away, Joe and the Reverse Days crew were stunned. They glanced at Janet, then Rebecca, utterly shocked. Was this a love triangle?
Everyone was thinking the same thing, sneaking looks at Janet. Realizing their gleeful expressions, she glared coldly, causing them to avert their eyes.
Joe grasped the situation, astonished. This Rebecca must be something else to have Charlie and Theodore vying for her attention. Considering Theodore's twenty-million-dollar investment and Charlie's forty-million-dollar investment, Joe felt a mix of worry and excitement. He worried they might fight, but he also thrilled at the thought of profiting from their rivalry.
Charlie and Theodore were jealous, competing intensely, so much so that all the investment was going into their crew. With sixty million dollars in unexpected investments, their production could far exceed expectations.
In that moment, Joe realized the true power player wasn't Charlie or Janet, but the seemingly unremarkable Rebecca. This girl was formidable.
"Mr. Edwards, Becky doesn't have many scenes, so we didn't arrange a resting room. But if you need one, we can arrange it immediately."
"Mr. Edwards, please follow me. There's a resting room inside," Joe offered, cautiously inviting Theodore. He then added, "By the way, if Becky needs a makeup room and resting room, I can have someone arrange it right away." A girl who brought in sixty million dollars deserved it.
Everyone was speechless. Charlie chuckled, exasperated. "Joe, could you be any more obsequious?"
"Absolutely. Becky, if you need anything, just let me know," Joe responded cheerfully, looking at Rebecca with a kind demeanor. Nearby staff snickered, their gazes toward Rebecca friendlier. Theodore's deep eyes seemed to hold a spark of fire as he watched Rebecca.
"Becky, thank the director," Charlie suggested. The money was spent, so Rebecca should enjoy the best.
Rebecca remained silent, looking at Charlie, feeling a mix of emotions. This was forty million dollars, spent so effortlessly. "Thank you, Joe," she said, sincerely thanking the director.
At this moment, Rebecca's feelings were oddly in sync with Charlie's. Since the money had been spent, they should make the most of it. Joe was delighted and immediately called a female staff member to escort Rebecca to the resting room.
Theodore's gaze shifted from Rebecca to Charlie. Joe quickly realized Theodore was uneasy about leaving Rebecca and Charlie alone. Perhaps he was worried they might end up in the same room during lunch? He pretended he knew nothing, staying nearby to keep the investor company.
Mia led Rebecca to the resting room, with Debra and Charlie following. They wanted to see if it was comfortable and safe. Seeing Charlie follow, Theodore frowned and immediately followed. Janet watched, her expression darkening. In the end, she followed them too.
Once they arrived, Debra felt satisfied, Charlie thought it was nice, and Rebecca was pleased. The room wasn't huge, but it had a bed, sofa, TV, and air conditioning—almost like a hotel room.
"This room is quite nice, isn't it?" Joe asked cautiously.
"It's decent. Alright, it's getting late. Everyone who doesn't need to be here should leave. Otherwise, the whole lunch break will be over," Charlie said, shooing the large group out of Rebecca's resting room. He was especially annoyed by Theodore and Janet.
