Chapter 84
The next day, Charlie rushed out without breakfast. Rebecca, after feeding the babies and having breakfast herself, began practicing for her audition. A few days earlier, Lynn had sent her a script for a TV series adaptation of a novel. Unlike Charlie's hugely popular Reverse Days, this production was considered average. However, Rebecca wasn't discouraged. She was a newcomer, still learning, and understood the need for gradual progress. She'd spent her free time reading the novel to better understand her character, focusing now on perfecting her portrayal of the character's emotions and personality.
She returned to the company's training room, rehearsing the scene repeatedly, with Lynn providing feedback. This continued for three days. On the fourth, they arrived at the Aotori Shooting Base in Aotori City to audition for Lovey Princess. Rebecca was vying for the lead role of Elizabeth Dalton.
While waiting, Rebecca saw Lesley, an acquaintance. Their eyes met, and a tense silence filled the air. Lesley was also auditioning for the lead. Actresses entered and exited the audition room, their expressions shifting from nervous anticipation to dejection. Finally, Lesley went in, and Rebecca anxiously awaited her return. A few minutes later, Lesley emerged.
Several more actresses auditioned before Rebecca. Then, Annie, another actress, approached Lesley, excitedly discussing her audition. Lesley, unsure how to respond, glanced at Rebecca. Annie noticed and whispered, "That's Becky, right? From that variety show with you? A Charlie fan?"
Lesley knew Rebecca was more than a fan; she was Theodore's wife. Experienced in the entertainment industry, Lesley understood the need for discretion. Revealing this secret would expose Janet's affair with the married Theodore, potentially jeopardizing Lesley's job at Evergrande Entertainment, where Janet held significant power.
"She's just a fan," Annie loudly declared, hoping Rebecca would overhear, "thinking a variety show appearance will make her a star!"
Rebecca heard, but only glanced briefly at Annie. It was her turn. Taking a deep breath, she entered the audition room. Lynn, preoccupied earlier, arrived after Rebecca's audition had begun. Although anxious, Lynn was confident in Rebecca's preparation.
Lynn's arrival startled everyone. Industry insiders recognized her instantly; she was a highly respected agent. A hush fell over the waiting area. Whispers circulated: Why was Lynn here? This was a small production. Her presence suggested a significant event, perhaps securing the female lead or something else entirely. The audition suddenly seemed far more important. Those who'd already auditioned hoped for selection; those still waiting were even more nervous and excited.
Rebecca's audition concluded, and she emerged. Lynn immediately approached. "How did it go?" she asked.
Rebecca smiled and nodded. "I think it went well."
"Great," Lynn replied. "Let's go back and wait for the news."
As they left, the onlookers were stunned. Was Rebecca under Lynn's management? Why would Lynn, a prominent agent, bring a newcomer to such a small audition? The realization sparked excitement; many people quickly took photos to share with industry contacts.
Lesley and Annie were shocked, especially Annie, who couldn't believe Lynn represented Rebecca. She wondered how such a successful agent could work with a relative newcomer.
