Chapter 100

“What’s going on in the hospital?” Just then, Zoe walked in carrying the night shift log.

Scarlett frowned in confusion at the document Zoe handed her. She asked, “What is this?”

“See it for yourself.”

Zoe added, “Ms. Payne, please warn those around you. Mr. Olson was lucky to escape this time, but no one will be able to help him next time. Please don’t complicate things for him again.”

She then left, leaving Scarlett alone with the record.

After reviewing the documents, Scarlett’s expression turned grim. Faced with the evidence, she could only manage a bitter smile.

Suddenly, she remembered Leroy’s words. He hadn’t been trying to get close to her; he was being truthful. Cedric’s foot wasn’t injured. Scarlett was in disbelief for a moment, closing her eyes in silence.

Meanwhile, Cedric wasn’t aware his feigned illness had been discovered. He was rushing back to the villa. Upon seeing Valda, he could no longer hide his feelings and shared everything that had transpired at the hospital.

The snacks in Valda’s hands suddenly lost all taste. Feeling ominous, she asked, “What happened? Did Scarlett’s feelings for you change, or has she discovered something?”

Cedric frowned and pondered Valda’s questions. He realized it might be possible, but Scarlett’s cold attitude left him unsure how to approach the situation. “Mom, Scarlett is distancing herself from me. Should I do something about it?”

Valda paused, deep in thought. “You’re absolutely right. It’s time for you to act.” She leaned forward and suggested, “Just admit your mistake and make Scarlett relent.”

Cedric was taken aback. “Scarlett seems indifferent to me now. Will this trick actually work?”

Valda was upset. “Why are you doubting yourself again? Are you still worried that Scarlett will lose her feelings for you? Don’t you know her weaknesses?”

After Valda finished, Cedric regained his composure and nodded. “You’re right. I’ll get ready now.”

Late at night, Scarlett cracked open her eyes. After sleeping all afternoon, she woke up feeling empty.

The ward door suddenly swung open, and Scarlett frowned at the entering figure. Cedric stood in the shadow, and as the door closed, the light vanished. She asked, “Why are you here? I said you could rest at the villa during this time.”

Scarlett frowned, uncertain how to confront Cedric after seeing Zoe’s evidence. He now appeared false and unsettling to her. Where had the man she once knew gone?

“Lettie, I’m here to bid you farewell.” As soon as Cedric finished speaking, Scarlett abruptly sat upright.
