Chapter 86

“I’m doing well at the company. I’ve just returned and need to learn more about it. Please bring me some food,” Scarlett requested.

Noticing Scarlett was already focused, Grace remained silent.

Cedric was unaware that Scarlett had been discharged from the hospital. At the moment, he was feeling anxious in the villa.

“Don’t worry. They’re just a group of old men. How powerful can they really be? Didn’t you say they wouldn’t dare to do anything to you?” Valda was casually snacking on the side, completely indifferent to the situation.

Cedric felt helpless. “What worries me most is that they won’t take action. That’s the real fear. These old men are great at manipulating people’s emotions.”

He felt uneasy, sensing that something was about to happen. “I can’t wait any longer. I need to talk to Lettie.”

After that, he promptly called Scarlett. However, she was preoccupied with work and didn’t answer. Cedric was taken aback and wondered if she had fallen asleep.

Noticing Cedric’s expression, Valda asked, “What’s going on? Did Scarlett not answer?”

Valda was about to complain when Cedric called Grace, who was downstairs at the company. Grace was momentarily stunned by the incoming call.

“Ms. Farmer, has the board made a decision? Why isn’t Lettie answering my call?” Cedric asked nervously.

Grace smiled faintly. “Why the rush? This issue isn’t resolved yet, and it’s late. Lettie needs to rest.”

She sighed and added, “Anyway, please come early tomorrow. I have to guide you on what to focus on.” After that, she hung up.

Cedric felt more relieved. “Mom, I’ll go to the company tomorrow to sort this out.”

Valda nodded. “It’s great that it can be solved, but you must hurry. Your aunt urged me about it last night.”

Cedric simply nodded.

Grace entered Scarlett’s office and asked, “Haven’t you read these documents before? There’s nothing wrong with them.”

Scarlett rubbed her brows and glanced at her phone. “The more normal it seems, the more worried I am. By the way, did Cedric call you?”

Grace stepped forward and replied, “He called to ask why he couldn’t reach you. It’s nothing serious. Anyway, I brought some of your favorite food. Give it a try.”

Grace smiled, yet a spark of contemplation flickered in her eyes.

The following morning, Cedric arrived early to find Grace waiting outside. His anxiety was palpable as he focused solely on the matter. “Ms. Farmer, what’s happening with the board? Is there anything I can do to help?”

However, Grace remained composed. “First, calm down. The board hasn’t decided yet, but it’s clear that you’re their target this time.” Cedric felt panicked. “What should I do then?”
