Leanor assured him he was trying to show that he had been faithful and had nothing to cover up.
Chapter 36
Eleanor raised her eyebrows. Though, wasn't that familiar with Sebastian, he really didn't seem like the type to have a messy personal life. She was in a great mood. She pulled back the spoon and continued eating her rakes. “It’s not as good as Starbright Hotel’s,” she commented.
“Then don’t settle for less,” Sebastian said calmly. “Let’s go to the hotel, and you can eat there.” If they went to Starbright Hotel, things would take a different turn.
Eleanor corrected herself—she and Sebastian weren’t exactly unfamiliar with each other. At least, not in bed.
While things on her side were light and romantic, over at Philip’s side, it was pure chaos. Not to mention the scandal; publicly, and even privately, they were in complete disarray. Sheila was absolutely losing it. She was beating Philip furiously, even leaving a few bloody scratches on his face; her shrill voice was sharp enough to tear through the roof.
“A top escort from Glorious Karaoke? She’s nothing but a whore, and you actually stooped that low? You weren’t even afraid of catching something? How did you not catch a disease? How are you still alive? Why aren’t you dead? Just die already!”
“That bastard is already 17! For over a decade, how many of those whores have you been sleeping with, huh? Tell me the truth!”
Philip covered on the couch, clutching his head. “I didn’t! I didn’t; it was just that one! I didn’t even know she had a kid!”
“Think before you…” Shella shrieked.
Brenda sat in an armchair, shutting her eyes in frustration. The maids, terrified of getting involved, stood off to the side whispering among themselves. Sheila shoved Philip hard.
“Lip, I must have been cursed to have married you! You’ve made me a laughingstock! Now all those gossiping old hags are asking me if I’ll let that filthy woman into the family and if I’ll acknowledge that bastard as a legitimate successor! I have never been so humiliated in my entire life!”
Trenda felt like her eardrums were about to burst. But she didn’t stop her parents from fighting because she, too, was furious. And she had nowhere to vent. There was no way she would ever accept that bastard as her brother. There could only be one successor of the Sandberg Group, and that was her.
She couldn’t understand why things still kept going wrong for her? Why was she always left in such a miserable state?
Meanwhile, Eleanor had secured a collaboration with Victory Tech and was praised by the board. She showed off her relationship with Sebastian online, gaining millions of new followers. Even the upper crust of Forstone City had nothing but compliments for her, calling her beautiful and elegant. Then, there was Sebastian. Why hadn’t he disappeared on his wedding night? Why was he so affectionate with Eleanor? Why?
Brenda was so furious she could practically cough up blood. Philip finally couldn’t take Sheila’s hysterics anymore and roared, “Enough!”
Sheila’s eyes widened. “How dare you raise your voice at me!” Her rage surged straight to her head. Without thinking, she grabbed a vase and hurled it at the back of Philip’s head.
“Go to hell!”
The maid gasped in horror. Philip clutched the back of his heart as he stared at Sheila in shock; his hand was covered in blood. “You… you…”
Sheila finally realized what she had done, and her face turned pale. “This…”
He collapsed straight onto the floor. Brenda shot up from her seat, shouting at the maids, “Are you all dead?”
