Listen to this chapter:

Matthew's heart tightened at Sophia's words. "When and where? What kind of truck? Do you remember the license plate number?" he questioned.

He was about to call his bodyguards to investigate the vehicle using surveillance footage when Sophia spoke. Being a prominent family, the Grants naturally attracted attention. If someone had targeted Sophia, Matthew would stop at nothing to find them.

Sophia, finding some comfort in Matthew's words, waved her hand. "No need to investigate. The roads were socked in with fog yesterday morning; the driver couldn't see me clearly. Since I'm fine, I don't want to dwell on it."

However, Matthew remained wary. "This is too dangerous. We must investigate thoroughly. Grandma, tell me the location and time. I'll send someone. Also, although that girl appeared to be rescuing you, she might have secrets. Did you give her anything? Or promise her anything?"

Sophia lashed out, striking him with her cane. "Shut up, you little punk! I was terrified! That girl saved me, and you're suspecting her instead of thanking her! You're hoping I die!"

Nathan quickly comforted her. "Grandma, calm down. You're fine, and you have many years ahead of you!"

Matthew, realizing he'd overreacted, endured the silence. After Sophia finished scolding him, he apologized.

Sophia scoffed. "Well, at least you know you're wrong! That girl is my lifesaver. You must help me find her; I need to thank her properly."

"Do you know her name?" Matthew asked.

"No!" Sophia replied flatly, leaving Matthew helpless.

Then, she perked up. "I don't care! She saved my life, and you must find her. In religion, we talk about cause and effect. She did me a great favor, and if I don't reciprocate, this karmic debt will hang over me…"

Sophia rambled, leaving Nathan bewildered. Matthew, however, noticed something was amiss.

"Grandma, I don't think you want me to find her just to thank her," he said.

Sophia muttered, "What can I say? You're the craftiest of them all."

Matthew ignored her; he was used to her tricks. Her display of anger and pity almost fooled him, until she mentioned karma. He realized she was up to something.

"Since that girl saved you, we should thank her properly. I'll find her and give her a large check," he said.

Sophia, realizing she'd been discovered, threw her cane aside and smiled. "That's not enough! She saved my life. She's my lucky star. I want her to be my granddaughter-in-law."
