Listen to this chapter:

Matthew’s face instantly turned frosty. “Grandma, how can you allow her into the Grant family without knowing her background?”

Sophia, however, was resolute. “I don't know her background, but she risked her life to save me; she's a good person!” She wanted to properly express her gratitude, but the girl vanished in the blink of an eye, showing no desire to take advantage of the situation. Sophia, with decades of experience, recognized a rare find. Everyone wants a good daughter-in-law, and Sophia was no exception. She wanted the girl to marry her grandson.

Matthew hadn't expected this twist. He found Sophia's attempt to use his guilt to force his hand even more uncomfortable.

He said slowly, “I disagree with this marriage. Grandma, if you insist, I won't help you find her.” He wouldn't invite trouble.

Sophia exploded. “Fine! If you won't find her, I will! And you'd better be ready when I do!”

For what? To repay a favor with marriage? Matthew thought, his face darkening.

Sophia, typically impulsive, stuck to her decisions. Her constant nagging about marriage already gave Matthew headaches, but arranging a marriage for him was a step too far.

Nathan, after bidding farewell to the spirited Sophia, chuckled at Matthew's grim expression. “Matthew, congratulations! Grandma found you a wife! She says she's a goddess. I wonder what she's really like…”

Matthew shot him a frigid glare. “If you're so curious, why don't you help Grandma find her?”

Nathan shuddered and shook his head vigorously. “No, no, no, Matthew, forget I said anything…”

Repaying a debt of gratitude was one thing, but marriage was absurd. Matthew, the esteemed CEO of Noria Group, was the dream husband for countless elite women in Kranson City. Why Sophia would arrange such a marriage was beyond Nathan.

Matthew, usually poker-faced, displayed clear impatience. He immediately called his bodyguard, instructing him to monitor Sophia and report any updates.

He hoped Sophia's whim would pass. He also hoped Kranson City was large enough to prevent Grandma from finding the woman. He disliked anything out of his control, especially being manipulated regarding his marriage. Marrying Valerie was already unexpected; he didn't want another surprise.

Then, he remembered he was already married.

Something flashed in his mind. He recalled Valerie's explanation of her wrist injury: saving someone.

Wait a minute! Could the person Valerie saved yesterday have been Grandma? She mentioned the old lady was alone. If something happened, her descendants would be responsible. I was judging those ungrateful kids…and the ungrateful kid was me? Matthew thought, guilt overwhelming him.
