Listen to this chapter:

Katherine hesitated, delaying her action. Suddenly, a group of men pounced on her, robbing her of the chance to react. The disparity in strength between men and women was stark, especially with seven or eight drunken men attacking her.

“You’ve gone mad!” she yelled. “Let me go! Get lost! All of you, scram!”

Katherine gritted her teeth, but she couldn't fight them off. They pinned her down, leaving her flustered. She remembered her phone. “Right,” she thought, “I can call the police.”

Just then, an incoming call interrupted. Katherine felt a glimmer of hope. Before identifying the caller, she answered, eager for help.

Before she could speak, someone grabbed her arm, flinging the phone away.

Katherine's heart sank. She frantically fought against the two men holding her.

“Let go of me!” she screamed. “Let go of me!”

Spoiled since childhood, she'd never endured such abuse.

“This girl’s feisty,” one man sneered. “If she’d been good, this wouldn’t have happened. Hold her legs. I’m having my fun with this bridesmaid!”

Two more men pinned down her legs. In the struggle, her skirt tore, riding up towards her thighs.

Katherine was horrified. These men were animals, she thought. Rage choked her, but her pleas were ignored as they continued to molest her.

Among them, she recognized a familiar face.

Dylan watched Katherine’s mistreatment, a flicker of something dark in his eyes. He noticed her nearly-ripped skirt and glimpsed her thighs. A spark of lust ignited within him. He approached and joined the men.

In the small pantry, the drunken men unleashed their depravity.

Katherine screamed until her voice was hoarse, despair settling in her heart. She never imagined such a fate.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed. A vase shattered, porcelain shards scattering across the floor.

Dylan, about to grope Katherine, felt a sharp blow to the head. He blanked out, then felt warm blood trickle down his cheek.

“Blood…” he thought.

He saw Valerie standing behind him, her eyes blazing with fury. She was a changed person, holding the broken vase. She must have hit me, he realized.

Shards had also struck the other men. Enraged, they cursed at her.

“What’s this crazy woman doing? We’re having fun with the bridesmaid!”

“She’s a bridesmaid; she should expect this. Why interfere?”

They tried to push Valerie away. Seeing Katherine’s near-naked state, Valerie’s fury intensified.

Oh, you still want to continue? she thought.

Valerie grabbed a nearby electric kettle and scalded the men with boiling water. Her fists clenched, her eyes blazing…

(The passage ends abruptly. The final character, 色, is a Chinese character meaning "color" or in this context possibly implying intense emotion. Its inclusion here is jarring and doesn't fit grammatically.)
