Chapter 103:

“Yangyang, what’s wrong?” Lu Yao patted Xia Yangyang’s face. Xia Yangyang’s skin was burning hot; Lu Yao realized she had a high fever. Lu Yao was terrified. Remembering Xia Weiwei’s earlier comments, she suspected the peanut powder she’d sprinkled on Xia Weiwei’s pillow the previous evening might have caused a severe allergic reaction.

She immediately sought help. The production team was roused, and Xia Yangyang was rushed to the hospital. Xia Yangyang felt disoriented, as if the world were spinning. When she opened her eyes, she saw blurry figures of doctors and nurses and a single, distinct silhouette.

She vaguely heard the doctor say, “Miss Xia is experiencing anaphylactic shock due to an allergy that can cause asthma and shock. This is a severe case requiring hospitalization for observation.”

“Thank you, Doctor Fang,” someone said.

“It’s nothing, Mr. Gu,” the doctor replied.

The medical staff left. The tall figure turned; Xia Yangyang saw it was Gu Qichen. He rushed to her side. “Yangyang, how are you feeling? Do you want some water?”

Xia Yangyang shook her head. “Why are you here?” She remembered he was on a business trip to Japan.

Gu Qichen replied, “How could I not come? You nearly didn’t wake up.”

“It’s not that serious,” Xia Yangyang said. “Just an allergy. I have these accidents once or twice a year. It’s not life-threatening.”

Gu Qichen’s face hardened. “Xia Yangyang, are you an idiot? Knowing how serious your allergies are, you still have these ‘accidents’ once or twice a year?”

“I can’t control accidents,” Xia Yangyang retorted.

She knew she had a severe, inherited peanut allergy and was usually extremely careful. But this time, she didn’t know what happened.

Gu Qichen said, “I suspect this wasn’t an accident. Have you mentioned your allergy to anyone?”

Xia Yangyang frowned. She hadn’t told everyone, but the production team and Xia Weiwei knew. However, she was sure Xia Weiwei wouldn't have done this intentionally.

“Don’t assume the worst,” Xia Yangyang said softly. “Maybe I accidentally ate something.”

Gu Qichen said, “This industry isn’t as clean as you think. I don’t understand why you, someone who could live comfortably, insist on acting.” He paused. Wasn’t it just to avoid me?

Xia Yangyang felt suffocated and pulled the blanket over her head. “Just leave me alone. I want to sleep.”

Gu Qichen immediately pulled the blanket away. “Apply this medication first.” He handed her a box of ointment. “The doctor prescribed it for the rash. You need to apply it three times a day. It’s anti-inflammatory and will help with the itching. Remove your clothes.”

Xia Yangyang blushed. “I’ll do it myself. You can leave.”

Gu Qichen remained at the bedside, staring intently at her, his gaze intensely cold.

“Do you want to take them off yourself, or should I force you to…?”
