Chapter 196: The President’s Wife
Kim Fei’er looked incredulous. “What did you say?”
Gu Zhaohan coldly shook off Kim Fei’er’s arm and turned to Director Yin. “I will replace Li Jiashu in the role of Liang Shanbo.”
Even Director Yin was taken aback. However, he acknowledged Yangyang’s outstanding acting skills and popularity, concluding she could make a splash at the campus festival.
“That would be best,” Director Yin said. “I hereby announce that Gu will replace Li. Take the time to rehearse and adjust quickly. Strive to honor our school in two weeks.”
Leaving the office, Kim Fei’er shook with anger, but Gu Zhaohan departed abruptly. Yangyang, watching his retreating figure, was puzzled. Didn't Gu Zhaohan hate her? Why had he helped?
Kim Fei’er pointed at Yangyang. “Yangyang, consider yourself lucky this time. Don’t think you’ll be so fortunate next time.”
She started to leave, but Yangyang blocked her. “Shouldn’t we settle the score between us?”
Kim Fei’er feigned ignorance. “What score?”
Yangyang slapped a piece of paper onto the table. “We had a bet, I won. You’re supposed to go to the Office of Academic Affairs to clear my name for the defamation you posted on the campus forum. I’ve written the statement; you can go ahead with it now.”
After glancing at the statement, Kim Fei’er shook with anger. “I refuse.”
Yangyang replied, “Fine, then you’ll get three slaps, just like you gave me. But I’ve been training in Taekwondo since I was young, so forgive me if I’m not gentle.” Yangyang raised her arm.
“I’ll read!” Kim Fei’er gritted her teeth, realizing Yangyang’s Taekwondo skills (evident from the judo throw earlier) meant the slaps could disfigure her.
Wen Xiaochu instructed Hua Qingqing, “Escort her to the broadcasting room. She must read the text verbatim.”
Ten minutes later, Kim Fei’er’s voice boomed over the PA system: “This is Kim Fei’er. I am clarifying a matter. Previously, I posted on the campus forum—without evidence—intentionally defaming classmate Yangyang and damaging her props. I deeply regret and apologize for my actions. I sincerely apologize to Yangyang and hope for her forgiveness…”
Yangyang and Wen Xiaochu laughed in the hallway.
“This is absolutely satisfying,” Wen Xiaochu said. “Look at her gritting her teeth!”
Yangyang added, “She’s usually too arrogant. Hopefully, she learned her lesson.”
Wen Xiaochu concluded, “But you really owe this to Gu Zhaohan. You would have been screwed without him.”
Yangyang seemed lost in thought.
In a better mood, Yangyang didn't return to Maple Villa after school but went directly to Shengyuan Building. Their relationship being public meant everyone knew she was Shengyuan Group’s CEO’s wife. Everyone greeted her respectfully.
She hadn’t told Gu Qichen she was coming, so she took the staff elevator to the 99th floor, which opened to the secretarial department outside the CEO’s office. Having interned there, she knew everyone. They were surprised to see her. Her former intern friend, Lu Xiaoman, greeted her with a joke: “Isn’t this our CEO’s wife? What a rare visit! How can we assist you?”
