Chapter 197: Cause Trouble for Him

Xia Yangyang blushed. “Xiao Man, stop teasing me.”

Lu Xiaoman laughed. “I’m not wrong. But you’re here to see the CEO, right? He’s in a meeting.”

Others in the office noticed and greeted her, flattering the CEO’s wife. Xia Yangyang felt awkward under the scrutiny.

“I’ll wait for him in his office,” she said, and headed toward it.

Suddenly, she bumped into someone. A piercing scream followed, attracting everyone's attention. It was Lin Yuanyuan, a former classmate and fellow intern in Shengyuan’s secretary department. Lin Yuanyuan, known to admire Gu Qichen, was carrying coffee and documents; the coffee spilled onto the papers.

“CEO’s wife,” Lin Yuanyuan said sharply, “do you think you’re above everyone else? This is a workplace, not your playground. We’re trying to make a living here.”

The sarcasm was palpable, and tension filled the air. No one expected Lin Yuanyuan to confront the CEO’s wife, but she was no ordinary intern—she was the heiress of one of the top four families, rumored to have been placed at Shengyuan. Given the Lin family's wealth, her presence in Shengyuan's secretary department was puzzling. Her intentions were clear: during her internship, people joked she would be the future CEO's wife, a suitable match given the Lin and Gu families' social standing. “You bumped into me on purpose,” Xia Yangyang said.

“I didn't!” Lin Yuanyuan retorted, throwing down the ruined documents. “This is a day’s work! Would I ruin it just to frame you? Are you worth it, Xia Yangyang?”

Xia Yangyang raised an eyebrow. Whispers filled the office: the documents contained manually sorted, crucial company data; Lin Yuanyuan wouldn't sabotage her own work. However, confronting the CEO's wife was incredibly bold, even if Xia Yangyang was at fault. Lin Yuanyuan, however, wasn't afraid; her family's influence made her fearless, and her continued presence at Shengyuan, even after the CEO's marriage, fueled speculation about her lingering feelings.

Just then, someone shouted, “The CEO is here!”

Gu Qichen emerged from the meeting room, noticing the commotion and Xia Yangyang. He approached her.

Xia Yangyang felt increasingly unlucky; she seemed to attract trouble, and had no way to explain this situation. Blushing, she regretted causing him problems when she had intended a surprise visit.
