This was the third day since Simone and her family had been disowned. They had handed over all the Langley Group's documents to the main Langley family and completed the transfer procedures. The Langley Group was once again under the main family's control. Derek and Christian happily drove to the Langley Group that morning.
Margot informed them that the Langley Group was now under their jurisdiction. The Langley Group was a highly profitable asset, a stark contrast to its near-bankruptcy state in the past, when the family had avoided it, leading to David's appointment. However, a completed order with the Excelsior Group had reversed its fortunes, bringing in numerous orders and trade deals, giving it significant influence among Rivenesco's material manufacturing companies.
Derek and Christian expected to effortlessly reap the rewards. Their arrival at the company to assume the positions of president and general manager, however, revealed a startling emptiness.
"What's going on?"
The vast Langley Group was practically deserted.
"Is everyone on leave today?" Christian asked, puzzled.
Derek's face fell.
"This is most likely David and his family's doing," he said coldly. "I knew they wouldn't give up so easily. But it's a pointless struggle."
"Call HR and tell all employees that if they don't clock in within an hour, they're fired!" Derek ordered harshly.
Christian obeyed. The phone rang loudly in the large office. A professional woman approached, carrying a phone and a large stack of documents.
"You must be the new president and general manager," she said with a smile.
"Are you the HR director? What's going on? Are the employees all dead?" Christian demanded.
"Don't worry. They're all well," she replied, maintaining her smile.
"How dare you speak to us like that?!" Derek and Christian exploded.
The HR director remained calm, placing the documents on the table. "These are our resignation letters. This one is mine."
Derek and Christian's faces paled.
"Everyone resigned? No one stayed?" Christian couldn't believe the employees' unity.

"The original president and general manager won our hearts, and no one in the main Langley family can compare," the HR director said, smiling before departing. Derek and Christian stamped their feet. Their first day had yielded a company devoid of employees.
"Call them all and offer triple their salary! They can't resist that!" Derek roared.
Christian complied, but two hours later, they were furious. None of the Langley Group's dozens of employees agreed to return; some even insulted them.
"Start hiring! We can still run this company!" Derek declared.
However, the situation hampered operations. After Christian answered several calls, his face darkened.
"Dad, the Excelsior Group canceled our collaboration."
"I knew it! We completed our end of the deal, and they paid. It doesn't matter if they cancel now," Derek said unconcernedly. He knew Duke, so the cancellation wasn't surprising. The Langley Group still had other orders.
"It's not just Excelsior. It's everyone," Christian said, his expression grim.
