Chapter 13

When that thought occurred to him, everything finally clicked. He recalled the whispers: "They say this person is just Wyatt family trash, utterly useless, a cast-off. But he doesn't look useless!" He mused, 'How can someone with influence in both the underworld and the law be considered useless?'

Christian, tasked with killing Dustin, panicked. He broke out in a cold sweat, silent and immobile. Unnoticed, he slowly dragged himself outside.

Outside, Klein begged, "Mr. Fox, my family's cornered. You're our only hope! Please help us!"

Dustin frowned. "What happened?"

"We were battling the Wyatt family, on the verge of victory," Klein explained, "but they suddenly got much stronger. In a day, we were defeated, our businesses ruined. We believe the Wyatts have powerful backing."

Dustin's frown deepened. He knew the Wyatt family's power—comparable to the Zimmers. Only one explanation remained: the Wyatts had made an early comeback, part of Lucas's pre-death plan for a grand, years-long resurgence. The Zimmers' actions had forced their hand.

This disrupted Lucas's plan, but Dustin, no longer a Wyatt, felt no obligation. He knew, however, that their comeback would make them immensely powerful, capable of dominating Lovellia and becoming a national pillar—explaining the Zimmers' defeat.

Klein pleaded from the floor, "Mr. Fox, if you help, we'll be your loyal servants!"

Dustin raised an eyebrow. "Get up," he said flatly.

Klein asked eagerly, "So you'll help?"

Dustin nodded. "I'll see to it."

He had, after all, fueled the conflict between the Zimmers and Wyatts. With the Zimmers losing, he had to intervene; he couldn't allow the Wyatts to dominate the market.

The Zimmers rejoiced. Dustin's help meant victory. He was the King of Hades, after all.

"Come in!" Dustin called.

A Hell Guard appeared. "Your command, My Liege?"

"Investigate the Wyatts' recent activities."

Minutes later, Dustin's face hardened. Clara, Delia, and Bella were in Central Harbor; Amara and Elisa guarded the family business in Rivenesco. He muttered, a fierce expression on his face, "Over twenty forces have pledged support, recovering my adoptive father's money… Lydia's work, no doubt."

Lucas's letter mentioned three life failures; his marriage was the first. Dustin sighed, "It seems my adoptive father's plan might falter…"

He then spotted Christian trying to escape. "Did I say you could leave?" Dustin asked coldly, murder in his eyes.
