Chapter 145
"Enough!" a middle-aged man shouted from near the bed. He was a senior member of the West family and Irene's eldest uncle. Besides Lucius, he was the one who called the shots. Clark, silenced by the shout, dared not move.
"Connor, that punk is too arrogant! He shows no respect for the West family!" Clark protested, clearly feeling the injustice of it all.
"Shut up! Must you further embarrass us?" Connor snapped.
Clark fell silent, but his anger remained.
Connor rose, bowed apologetically to Dustin, and said, "Young man, my brother was rude. Please forgive him."
Dustin huffed but didn't retaliate.
"My father is critically ill," Connor continued. "Once he recovers, we will compensate you." He then urged Irene to speak with Dustin, but she remained by Lucius's side, deeply worried.
Shortly afterward, a middle-aged physician entered, escorted by someone.
"Dr. Parker, you've arrived!"
The West family members rushed forward to greet him politely. Even Clark bowed deeply, showing respect. Dustin, noticing this, recognized the name from a website: 'Ryan Parker, top-grade physician.' He recalled Parker's renowned teacher and his formidable reputation, built on years of dedicated study and practice. Parker was exceptionally well-known among elite physicians, his teacher being one of Lovellia's few remaining masters.
Ryan entered the room with an air of arrogance. Such physicians commanded exorbitant fees and were notoriously haughty; securing their services was exceptionally difficult. His presence in Lannopolis was a significant honor.
Connor pleaded, "Dr. Parker, your journey must have been long and exhausting. I apologize for immediately troubling you, but my father needs your treatment. Only you can save him!"
Ryan responded with displeasure, "I flew for half a day and was brought here directly from the airport. I haven't even had a chance to breathe. Do you think it's appropriate to ask me to see the patient immediately?"
"We're sorry, but my father can't wait! Please understand, Dr. Parker!" Connor said anxiously, gesturing for someone to bring forward a large tray laden with neatly stacked cash.

"This is ten million dollars, a small token of our appreciation. We will reward you further upon my father's recovery," Connor stated. Only then did Ryan nod, satisfied.
He sat by the bed, taking Lucius's pulse and listening as the West family members described the poisoning.
"Mr. West has been poisoned," Ryan declared confidently.
"Yes," they confirmed, "by Samuel Manson, the Terminator. We don't know the poison. Lucius's condition has deteriorated drastically; he's barely clinging to life. Please save him, Dr. Parker!"
Ryan smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry, it's not a potent poison. I can treat it. I'll use a treatment developed by my teacher; it will cure Mr. West within ten days!"
He prepared to begin, intending to massage Lucius to concentrate the poison before extracting it. "This massage technique, invented by my teacher, is exceptionally effective against poisons," he explained, smiling.
Just then, Dustin interrupted, "If you do that and administer those medicines, the patient will die within minutes!"
