Chapter 314: Give Her a Week Off Directly
Only Class A students initially knew that Myrna would participate in Craydon University's independent enrollment, but somehow the news spread throughout Melcester Central High School. Only a few people at Melcester Central High School knew that a Craydon University professor had specifically come to recruit Myrna for a scholarship.
Most people knew that Myrna was a senior in her third year of high school. She had average grades at her previous school, but after transferring to Melcester Central High School, she excelled in two exams and shamelessly expressed her desire to apply to Craydon University.
To make matters worse, someone with good intentions even posted on the BBS about Stephanie taking the Craydon University Independent School Entrance Examination. Now, the entire Melcester Central High School knew that Class A Myrna and Class B Stephanie, arch-enemies and the fake and real heiresses, had set their sights on the same school and would take the upcoming entrance exam.
The third-year students were fine; most had witnessed Myrna's academic achievements. First and second-year students, however, were not in the same building and relied on the BBS for gossip about their senior classmates. They knew Stephanie was the school belle, with good grades and a beautiful appearance—a true "white rich beauty." Originally, she was guaranteed admission to Hebbury College of Art. However, a mistake with her awards led to their revocation, losing her guaranteed admission. Shortly after, Stephanie transferred to the neighboring Hughes High School.
Compared to Stephanie's glamorous resume, Myrna's appeared much humbler. She was beautiful but had a cold personality. Besides having a top-notch brother, she rarely stood out, and her grades seemed average. She wasn't as good as Stephanie! Although she was later admitted to Class A, many believed it was an inside job. These days, having inside information is normal; not having any is abnormal!
So, someone online created a boring poll asking who would successfully get into Craydon University: Stephanie or Myrna. At first, participation was low. Freshmen were the most interested; sophomores lacked enthusiasm, and seniors were too busy preparing for their own exams to pay attention to such peripheral gossip.
The voting post only gained popularity when a few girls, including Stephanie, pooled their money to organize a gambling event. Because Myrna was studying for the exam, she'd been busy. It was unusual for her not to be using her phone in class every day. Rachel and others noticed she carried thick study materials and worked on questions during free time.
In the blink of an eye, it was the week before the exam. Myrna went to Hattie in advance to request leave. Hattie knew she was taking the Craydon University entrance exam and readily approved her vacation—a week, more than two days longer than she had requested!
Hattie signed the leave slip, turned around, and handed the paper to Myrna with a complex expression. She said, “Rest well in Nemmington, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself! If you pass the exam, that’s great. If not, there’s still the college entrance examination. Come back and study hard; we still have a chance.”
Getting into Craydon University wasn't easy, especially the Independent School Entrance Examination, which attracted elites from various provincial universities. Melcester Central High School, located in Melcester, didn't excel and wasn't ranked in the national top 100.
“Your grades are good. I've seen your exam papers from the past two exams, and only your literature is relatively weak. Even if you take the college entrance examination route, you have a chance to get into Craydon University,” Hattie said, clearly aware of the BBS drama and Myrna and Stephanie's situation. Her jaw tightened slightly, and her voice softened as she added, “Don’t compare yourself to others. It’s meaningless. As long as you surpass yourself each time, you are winning. Keep up the good work!”
