Chapter 144

Ashley stood across from Chris’s desk, flipping through the files, looking over them carefully for quite a while before shaking his head again.

“No, this person’s background is very clean, except… her encrypted records from when she was born until when she was three. Neither Shannon nor I have the clearance to access them; we might need an expert.”

Naturally, this kind of task was given to Jennifer.

Jennifer had already left Michael’s house, and Shannon had chosen someone else to continue the nanny work—this time, a professional.

“Encrypted?”

The office’s intercom rang, and Shannon’s voice came through.

Jennifer looked at the computer screen, which was mostly black except for a few red dots moving slowly.

During the call, two of those dots disappeared, indicating they had been caught.

A smile appeared on Jennifer’s lips. “Send it over. I’m busy right now. I’m helping Roy catch people. I’ll get on it in half an hour.”

Shannon hesitated on the other end. “I didn’t know you were still helping Captain Felton.”

“Oh, just got the info. They said their team couldn’t locate someone, so I helped out. Two have been caught, three remain. It’ll be over soon.”

Shannon sighed. “Alright, the files are sent. Hurry up.”

All suspicious individuals from the hospital were sent to the Wilder Group, then Shannon filtered and forwarded the relevant data to Jennifer’s computer.

There was no information in the world that Jennifer couldn’t find, unless… the person appeared out of thin air.

Jennifer pushed open Jessica’s door and threw the recently found files onto her desk, looking utterly dejected.

“This person must have jumped out of a rock.”

Jessica blinked, speechless. ‘What the hell is she talking about?’

Jessica raised her eyelids and glanced at her.

Jennifer wasn’t afraid at all, leaning on the desk with both hands.

“There’s no information I can’t find in this world unless this person… was not born in a hospital. Otherwise, there would be records.”

But the Mandy they were investigating had none.

Nobody understood why Chris focused so much attention on this person.

After Jennifer’s investigation, there was indeed something wrong with her.

Jessica lowered her head to think.

If even Jennifer couldn’t find anything, it wasn’t encryption; it must have been erased.

“Only about three people in the world can erase birth records and store them without me noticing. From what I know, one is in the country, the other two are abroad. They can’t have any connection to Mandy, and the one in the country…”

Her voice dropped. “Is even less likely.”

Jessica called Chris to explain the situation.

The information Jennifer found wasn’t much more than what Shannon had given, just a bit more detailed.

The more they looked, the simpler Mandy’s life seemed.

“Even Jennifer couldn’t find anything?” Ashley asked in surprise.

Jessica had the call on loudspeaker and smiled at Jennifer when she heard this.

Jennifer took the phone and held it to her lips.

“What’s the meaning of this, Mr. White? Are you underestimating me? Do you want to have a go yourself?”

Ashley quickly surrendered. “I’ll pass on that. You’re the best in the world at this. But I’m sure this person didn’t jump out from a rock.”

Jennifer said, “You’re mocking me.”

After their banter, Jessica returned to the matter at hand.

“So there’s definitely something wrong with Mandy. I’m sending Calum to follow her. Do you know the home address?”

Chris read the address from the patient’s file.

It was a very ordinary neighborhood, with average prices—perfectly matching Mandy’s family situation.
