Chapter 179

Listen to this chapter:

Michael was still holding Jordanโ€™s hand.

โ€œMommy!โ€

Since Jordan got hurt, Jessica hadnโ€™t seen her for a long time. She didnโ€™t expect Michael to actually bring the child along. Perhaps he thought he couldnโ€™t get much from Jessica, so he wanted to show off by bringing the child.

โ€œWhy did you bring Jordan?โ€ Jessica stepped aside.

After all, she was still a child, and her physical condition was quite good. After the car accident, Jordan had recovered well, but the nanny said Jordanโ€™s temper was getting worse every day. She would get angry even if something was taken by mistake, and sometimes even throw things to the floor.

Michael didnโ€™t pay much attention to Jordanโ€™s upbringing. All he would do was bring Jordan with him whenever he needed to compete for favor. It did no good to Jordanโ€™s upbringing.

โ€œJordan hasnโ€™t seen you for a long time. She said she missed you. She originally wanted to call you to spend the New Year together. She also wanted to be with you, but since you have to go home to keep Linda company, I didnโ€™t want to waste your time. Some business partners brought me some gifts, so I thought Iโ€™d bring them to you.โ€

Jessica lowered her head to look.

They had plenty of such things at home; there was no need for Michael to bring any. But Jessica still thanked him.

Chris was cutting fruit and about to take it to the living room. When he was passing by, he happened to see Michael holding Jordanโ€™s hand.

Originally, there was still a smile on Michaelโ€™s face, but when he saw Chris, the smile immediately disappeared, and even Jordan looked at Michael in disbelief, her big eyes glaring at him.

โ€œWhy are you at Mommyโ€™s house? I donโ€™t want to see you! Go away!โ€

Chris smiled faintly and glanced at the little girl, then placed the fruit on the table. He turned around and wiped his hands slowly and deliberately.

โ€œI donโ€™t think I can do that. This is my house!โ€

Jordan glanced at Jessica, โ€œNo, this is Mommyโ€™s house! Aunt Sophie said this isnโ€™t your home. You should leave right now!โ€

Seeing Jordan so stubborn, Michael didnโ€™t even argue. Jessica knew his intentionโ€”sure enough, Michael probably knew that Chris was still with her, so he deliberately brought Jordan over.

In the past, such words could still hurt Chris. Jessica, pretending for appearances, wouldnโ€™t let Michael feel embarrassed, but things were different now. This time even Jessica didnโ€™t side with Jordan.

Her expression turned much colder, no longer with her usual smile.

โ€œJordan, you canโ€™t be so rude. He is my husband. You should also call him Uncle Chris or Mr. Green. This is his house, too. You and Daddy are the guests here. You canโ€™t make him leave.โ€

There was disbelief all over Jordanโ€™s face.

Hearing this, Michael tugged Jordan roughly. โ€œDonโ€™t be so rude.โ€

Jordan pouted her lips, and the look in her eyes toward Chris was full of hostility. It was hard to imagine a little girlโ€™s eyes could have such an expression. Michaelโ€™s parenting really had serious problems.

โ€œMr. Green, youโ€™re back. I thought the two of you were divorced. Did Linda tell you to live together? Does the rest of the Wilder Group not know about your divorce? Did Linda make you put on an act?โ€

Even now, Michael still tried to find a way out for himself. Chris couldnโ€™t help but admire him.

Jessica didnโ€™t refute either.

โ€œDid you come all this way to bring gifts? Itโ€™s cold outside. You shouldnโ€™t take Jordan outdoors in such weather. If you need anything, tell Shannon. Sheโ€™ll prepare everything for you.โ€

Chris stood beside Jessica. Such a sight made Michael very uncomfortable.
