Chapter 217

Listen to this chapter:

“Mr. Green, Nina and I actually knew each other a long time ago. We had already met before she took over FN. We should have dated, but we missed the chance. Now we finally have one.”

“They had known each other that early?” Chris felt surprised.

He still wanted to ask something, but Jessica had already pushed open the office door and gone in.

The topic had to end there.

“Director Sean Travis’s new drama will start filming next month, and the Wilder Group will be in charge of the crew’s costumes. I will put you in to play the third male lead,” said Jessica after sitting down.

Shannon and Neo hadn’t entered the room.

Matthew could only sit next to Nina, listening to Jessica’s arrangements.

“Don’t be nervous,” said Nina.

Matthew relaxed slightly and nodded.

“Okay.”

Jessica picked up a script from the table and tossed it into Matthew’s arms.

“The third male lead doesn’t have many scenes, but he is a very positive police officer. Your career in Cheria has just started – you need more positive roles to highlight yourself. And acting skills matter as well. Director Sean is very strict. If you’re not up to it, he wouldn’t hesitate to replace you.”

“Okay.”

Director Sean was a senior director who had only started shooting commercial films five years ago.

Fortunately, he had a natural talent for this profession – even the commercial films he made were very good.

And the crew’s requirements were numerous.

Getting a slot in there really wasn’t easy.

Jessica had promised to trade the rental rights for a set of haute couture gowns in exchange for Matthew’s role.

There was no audition – it was basically forced in.

“The set will be very demanding. Director Sean will want to see you in three days; then there will be the script reading. You’re still considered a newcomer in the film industry. When you get there, you need to remain humble. If anyone says something unpleasant, you can pretend not to hear it – or you can tell Neo.”

Neo was very capable.

He was the agent Nina had arranged for Matthew.

He had stayed with Matthew through all those years as a trainee abroad.

With him around, they all felt more at ease.

“Okay.”

Nina asked quietly, “Is it just the contract signing today? Nothing else?”

“Well, Neo had arranged some classes, but we were supposed to go to one, and the teacher said something came up and changed the time. I’m free until six this evening – want me to go shopping with you?”

Nina thought about it.

Their rumored relationship had already made Roy furious.

If he saw them shopping together, who knew what drama would happen next – it was better to forget it.

The two kept their heads lowered, talking softly.

Chris kept staring at them, until Jessica reached over, pinched his chin, and turned his face away.

“Still not done watching?”

Chris caught her hand.

“Matthew said he had known Nina long before she took over FN. Then why didn’t they end up together?”

The reason… might have been right in front of them.

Reporters from Hurricane Media left the hospital very late.

Several doctors who had been interviewed were packing up to go home, including Ashley.

Francesca came over and said to Ashley, “Dr. Wood just got a phone call. He looked nervous and rushed out – even without changing his clothes.”

Ashley lowered his eyes.

“Got it. Send me his home address. I’ll go check on him.”

“Okay.”

According to the signature records Francesca had looked into, Hector had recently signed off on something – and it was for a drug unrelated to his department.

But the drug ultimately hadn’t worked.

It should have been a dosage problem.

Maybe he had messed something up and was now facing retaliation?

Ashley changed his clothes, grabbed his car keys, and followed Hector out.
