Chapter 244
These experts talked confidently, but Jessica only thought it was a joke.
The experts said that Michael’s current situation was one of malicious revenge and that he had no real feelings for the Hall family.
They said the domestic market was already mostly divided, Hurricane Media had already returned to the country, and Aitairy might not be able to establish a firm foothold domestically.
They spoke honestly, but Jessica wondered how these words sounded in Michael’s ears.
Just thinking about it made her laugh.
While she was lost in thought, the sound of the door opening came from the entrance.
Jessica hurriedly put down her legs and looked toward the door.
“Back so early?”
Chris was carrying many things in his hands.
Jessica put on her slippers and walked over. She was just about to hug him, but a hand blocked her.
“Stop. It’s pouring down outside. I’m all wet and cold.”
Mainly, Chris had a slight fever and was worried about infecting Jessica.
Seeing Chris carry so many things into the kitchen, Jessica asked curiously, “Is someone coming over tonight?”
“No.”
“Then why did you buy so many things?”
“It’s all your favorites. I’m making you your favorite dishes. I asked, and there aren’t any decent restaurants near Montvue Tower. The chefs they have aren’t great either, and you might not be used to the food over there.”
Jessica leaned against the kitchen door, watching Chris put everything away, and smiled. “We’re going on a business trip, the food isn’t important. Everyone will eat the same things, and I can’t just get special treatment because I’m the employer.”
“That’s why I’m cooking your favorites today.”
It was only a little past four, but it was already dark outside.
The house was lit, and the kitchen smelled warm and fragrant.
Jessica helped out near the dining table.
She didn’t cook and didn’t know how, so she could only help with small tasks.
Therefore, the two of them took on their own tasks.
They randomly picked a variety show on TV, and the whole house was lively.
After a cold day, Jessica finally felt awake at that moment.
Sure enough, a home without a man wasn’t right. She had long been unaccustomed to living alone.
Just then, Jessica’s phone rang.
She picked it up and saw it was Shannon.
“What’s up?”
Shannon seemed to be outside as well; the faint sound of car horns came through.
“Guess the reason for Michael’s first move after returning to Cheria.” Shannon’s voice held amusement, as if watching a play.
Jessica turned on loudspeaker so Chris could hear in the kitchen as well.
Chris asked in surprise, “Did Michael beat someone up?”
“Not at all,” said Shannon.
“Given Michael’s current status and position, he doesn’t need to hit anyone himself. There are plenty willing to help.”
So what did Michael do?
Recalling the news she saw that afternoon and the experts’ reports, Jessica said, “Could it be that he had one of the experts beaten up?”
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line.
Shannon sighed softly. “Is there anything in this world you don’t know?”
“Maybe there is, but it’s better to know more about your enemies.” Jessica was in a good mood and saw Chris still looked puzzled.
Jessica used voice control to switch the TV channel.
The program was still focused on Aitairy and the same experts.
One of them criticized the harshest, saying Michael didn’t understand domestic rules and didn’t respect traditions anymore.
If anyone deserved to be beaten up, it was definitely this guy.
Shannon was right.
“That guy is a financial expert invited by the TV station. Apparently, he was attacked not long after leaving the station. Someone dragged him into a car, beat him up, and then dumped him next to a garbage bin. He was seriously hurt. He called the police and said that he suspected that Michael was behind everything.”
