Chapter 245

But Michael had a perfect alibi.

While the expert was being beaten, Michael was meeting with a senior bank official.

The two arranged to meet at a golf course, and on days like this, the indoor golf course was still packed. They stayed together the entire time.

The bank executive testified to Michael’s whereabouts, saying he never left their sight.

The expert insisted it must have been someone hired by Michael to beat him up.

“The car completely avoided surveillance areas; not even the license plate was visible, so it couldn’t be traced. And since it was done by Michael, all subsequent arrangements must have been perfectly planned, leaving no trace. They said that the police only took a statement and left. That expert called on the media to re-interview Michael.”

“That’s a good way to stir up attention,” said Chris.

Jessica nodded as well and searched on her phone.

Sure enough, the buzz around the Wilder Group and Blake was just pushed down by the trending topic, "Michael Had Beaten Someone Up."

“He’s still childish,” said Shannon.

Jessica reminded Shannon not to stay out too late since they had a business trip tomorrow, and the weather was bad, so it might take longer for them to reach their destination.

“I’m going to check on Indya. Haven’t seen her in two days. I suspect Anthony might have killed and dismembered her. I’ll go check.”

Mentioning Anthony made Jessica feel a headache again.

These subordinates had been with her for years and were more like friends.

Jessica couldn’t just watch them sink deeper into trouble without doing anything, especially Indya.

Blake claimed he liked Indya and insisted he was a gentleman, but his behavior really confused Jessica.

Anthony was even worse.

He cheated on Indya but still said, “I didn’t do anything; I still love you. I just wanted you to pay more attention to me.”

They were both grown-ups; emotional affairs were just as bad as physical ones.

“You should go check on her. Don’t drink tonight.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up, Jessica sighed and said, “This is really troublesome. What should I do about Indya?”

“Are you really going to help Blake pursue her?”

Jessica lowered her head. “Overall, Blake is a good choice, worthy of Indya. But the premise is that Indya likes him. If Blake can’t get her to fall for him, I won’t interfere.”

“If Anthony is trouble, why not replace him?”

“The Montvue Tower outdoor design project team was decided long ago, and the contract says the team can’t be changed. It looks like the money has already been paid. Besides, Anthony is indeed a top expert in the industry. I see no need to replace someone like him.”

Work was definitely more important than personal matters.

Jessica wouldn’t replace the best candidate just because of a subordinate’s relationship problem.

Chris stared at the kitchen stove.

“I think Indya is troubled too.”

He looked at Jessica, who appeared casual but whose eyes carried a smile.

He reached out and lifted her chin.

“What secrets are you holding this time?”

Following his gesture, Jessica looked into Chris’ eyes.

It seemed that she couldn’t hide anything from him anymore.

Had she deliberately let down her guard, or did Chris just understand her better?

Jessica said, “I don’t know about other men, but I know you. If you really love someone, no matter how long you’re neglected, your heart won’t change. I know everything that Anthony has gone through over the past couple of years abroad.”
