Chapter 280
Chris had slept for a long time. When he woke up, he didnโt even know where he was until he saw Jessica beside him. He instinctively reached out and hugged her, while Jessica just let out a soft murmur, not fully waking.
He hadnโt dreamed in a long time. The last time he did was probably when the two of them were not getting along. Chris had a premonition that he might lose her, and the dream was filled with beautiful moments between them.
He guessed he must have been too tired.
Chris massaged his temples. Jessica lay on her side next to him, her expression restless. Chris raised his hand and gently smoothed out the furrow in her brow.
He didnโt even know when he had fallen asleep. His last memory was finishing his shower, still wanting to talk to Jessica for a bit. He hadnโt expected to fall asleep as soon as he got into bed. It seemed he really couldnโt compare to when he was in school; now that he was older, even doing something small drained his energy.
Since it was still early, Chris held Jessica and went back to sleep for a while longer.
โLukeโs condition doesnโt look too good. Now it wasnโt just his body, but even his mental state was acting strangely. Before, when Luke saw us, he yelled and shouted. I thought it was panic, but now he reacts that way even when he sees his parents,โ Jack reported to Roy. The situation in the hospital was tense; no one could get close to Luke.
Doctors and nurses could only restrain him to briefly approach and administer IVs and medication.
โHave you found a psychologist?โ asked Roy.
Jack said, โThe hospital psychologist went to see him but was injured as soon as he walked through the door. He still has a wound on his forehead. The hospital suggested the police find a psychologist.โ
It seemed the hospital didnโt want to take responsibility anymore since it was a complicated case.
Roy thought for a moment, then suddenly picked up his phone and called Nina. โI remember FN has a pretty capable psychologist, right?โ asked Roy.
Nina was holding a meeting with a group of agents, finalizing standards for the next quarter. When she got her brotherโs call, she waved everyone off.
After the room cleared, she put on her Bluetooth headphones and said, โYes, but he isnโt FNโs exclusive therapist. He just has a private relationship with me and is willing to come check every quarter. Whatโs up?โ
Roy said, โLukeโs mental condition is unstable, and the hospital psychologist canโt get anywhere near him. Iโm thinking if we can find someone from out of the hospital.โ
Nina looked at the time. โIโll call and ask. He probably isnโt asleep yet.โ
โNot asleep yet?โ
โHeโs abroad, currently probably in Lonat. The worldโs top psychology clinic is run by him. All capable psychologists are recruited under him. Even if he doesnโt come, heโll likely send someone else.โ
โOkay, do it as soon as possible.โ
Frederick Renolds really hadnโt gone to sleep yet. It was just past 11 at night in Lonat, so it wasnโt his bedtime yet.
When Nina called, Frederickโs first reaction was that FN must have another scandal exposed, and the actor couldnโt handle it.
โItโs not me. Itโs aboutโฆ donโt ask. My brother needs him. Do you have time to make a trip back to the country? If not, just arrange someone for me; my brother will pay.โ
Wearing silk pajamas, Frederick lay in bed, a professional book open beside his pillow.
โCoincidentally, Iโm going back in a few days. Iโll take a look for you then.โ
โThanks so much. Iโll pick you up when you come back.โ
โForget it. If you come to pick me up, the airport will be swarmed with paparazzi. Iโll come to FN to see you.โ
โOkay.โ
Chris originally thought Natalie staring at him that day was out of curiosity, but within a couple of days, the application from the Fourth Infirmary for Natalie to transfer to the Summit Infirmary for internship arrived in his hands.
