Chapter 296
Jessica took a deep breath. โYeah, I always felt like it was enough for just me to make sacrifices in our family. Honestly, I never planned to study business back then, but there were only two girls in the family, and with the branch families watching closely, someone had to step up.โ
She was the older sister, so naturally she would stand in front of her younger sister.
That was why Jessica took over the company, hoping her sister could live freely and uninhibited, but she never expected Sophie to develop such a personality.
โItโs my fault for not properly guiding Sophie early on. Both Mom and I share an inescapable responsibility.โ
When talking to Felix, it was naturally Chris who took the lead.
On a workday, Chris arranged to meet Felix in his office. This was Chrisโs first visit to the Lawson familyโs office, located on the top floor of their largest hospital in Impelia.
This wasnโt just the Lawson familyโs largest hospital, but the biggest hospital in Impelia. It covered a vast area and combined a hospital and a convalescent center in one.
It took over half an hour to drive from the main entrance to the back.
As soon as they entered, they felt the hushed ambience of recovery, with fragrant floral scents everywhere.
From the main building all the way to the top floor, the elevator doors opened to greet Chris and Francesca.
Francesca had also come along; her purpose was to learn, and soon Felixโs secretary would take Francesca on a tour around.
โMr. Lawson, Mr. Green has arrived.โ
People called Chris Mr. Green, but he actually preferred Dr. Green, since that was his true profession.
โCome in.โ
Felix stood up and was about to greet him, but Chris raised his hand. โNo need. We donโt have to be so formal. Still, being in your office feels a bit restrained.โ
The secretary and Francesca left the room, which was filled with a strong lemon fragrance.
โWe should go for some tea, but I thought it might be too early. Drinking tea now isnโt really appropriate. We can chat here a bit longer, and then find a teahouse at noon. Itโs rare that I have no surgeries or work for a whole day.โ
Chris recalled that he didnโt have any surgeries or appointments today and nodded, sending a message to Francesca. โIโll have Francesca make the arrangements.โ
After a few pleasantries, they got down to business.
โI saw the news, too. Miss Sophie has become Aitairyโs spokesperson and was made the director of the Lonat branch. Itโs honestly a bit hilarious. Does Mrs. Wilder know about this?โ Felix frowned, folding his hands on the desk.
Thinking of Jessicaโs restless night, Chris became even more worried.
Chris sat opposite Felix at the huge desk. There was quite some distance between them. โDonโt even ask. It was my mother-in-law who saw the news first and called us. Jessica didnโt sleep all night.โ
โIs there anything I can do to help?โ Felix asked calmly. โIf Ms. Wilder is willing to help, regarding the Aitairy matter, weโre basically allies now. With a common enemy, weโre on the same side. Chris, I truly want to be friends with you. You can speak openly.โ
Chris felt guilty inside.
At first, everyone feared Felix had ulterior motives and didnโt want to reveal too much.
Now the tables had turned, and they were the ones asking Felix for help.
The world was truly unpredictable.
Chris said, โThis time, when you send Natalie abroad, can we go with her?โ
Felix was momentarily surprised. โThatโs not really helping, and itโs not a big deal.โ
Chris explained, โWe want to see Sophie, mainly because she isnโt answering our calls and we canโt get in touch at all.โ
Felix understood. โSpoiled kids are always like that. Once, Natalie got mad at me and went shopping abroad by herself. I was worried sick.โ
