Jessica took a deep breath. “Yeah, I always felt like it was enough for just me to make sacrifices in our family. Honestly, I never planned to study business back then, but there were only two girls in the family, and with the branch families watching closely, someone had to step up.”

People called Chris Mr. Green, but he actually preferred Dr. Green, since that was his true profession.

“Come in.”

Felix stood up and was about to greet him, but Chris raised his hand. “No need. We don’t have to be so formal. Still, being in your office feels a bit restrained.”

The secretary and Francesca left the room, which was filled with a strong lemon fragrance.

“We should go for some tea, but I thought it might be too early. Drinking tea now isn’t really appropriate. We can chat here a bit longer, and then find a teahouse at noon. It’s rare that I have no surgeries or work for a whole day.”

Chris recalled that he didn’t have any surgeries or appointments today and nodded, sending a message to Francesca. “I’ll have Francesca make the arrangements.”

After a few pleasantries, they got down to business.

“I saw the news, too. Miss Sophie has become Aitairy’s spokesperson and was made the director of the Lonat branch. It’s honestly a bit hilarious. Does Mrs. Wilder know about this?” Felix frowned, folding his hands on the desk.

Thinking of Jessica’s restless night, Chris became even more worried.

Chris sat opposite Felix at the huge desk. There was quite some distance between them. “Don’t even ask. It was my mother-in-law who saw the news first and called us. Jessica didn’t sleep all night.”

“Is there anything I can do to help?” Felix asked calmly. “If Ms. Wilder is willing to help, regarding the Aitairy matter, we’re basically allies now. With a common enemy, we’re on the same side. Chris, I truly want to be friends with you. You can speak openly.”

Chris felt guilty inside.

At first, everyone feared Felix had ulterior motives and didn’t want to reveal too much.

Now the tables had turned, and they were the ones asking Felix for help.

The world was truly unpredictable.

Chris said, “This time, when you send Natalie abroad, can we go with her?”

Felix was momentarily surprised. “That’s not really helping, and it’s not a big deal.”

Chris explained, “We want to see Sophie, mainly because she isn’t answering our calls and we can’t get in touch at all.”

Felix understood. “Spoiled kids are always like that. Once, Natalie got mad at me and went shopping abroad by herself. I was worried sick.”
