Chris laughed helplessly. “Yeah, spoiled kids never realize how worried we are at home. So, we thought we’d take advantage of Natalie going to school and go abroad with her. That’s the only excuse that wouldn’t attract too much attention.”
Recently, Chris and Felix had grown close, and many people knew about it. This arrangement would just be understood as the couple taking a trip together, and since Chris and Felix were close, it just so happened they chose the same country.
“Alright, that’s fine. Once the dates are set, I’ll let you know. I’ll have my secretary coordinate with yours to book the flights.”
“Okay.”
Chris and Felix truly had a good relationship. Even though they hadn’t known each other long and came from different backgrounds, they could talk freely. Since neither had much work at the moment, they opened up more, and their relationship deepened further. “I heard that the Wilder Group has also been quietly investigating Aitairy. It seems to be because of Ms. Wilder’s father? But that was many years ago, and with hearsay, it might not be very accurate coming from me.”
Chris thought for a moment and decided to tell the truth. “There’s nothing inaccurate about that. It was indeed because of my father-in-law’s death, but I don’t know the specifics. “I’ve even met Michael’s ex-wife abroad. Michael’s ex-wife gave birth to his daughter, Jordan. She currently lives in a hotel and seems to have Aitairy’s client information. Michael values her highly.”
“The ex-wife? I’ve looked into her too. Michael married Helen, and shortly after, persuaded the Jills family to join Aitairy. Within a few years, the Jills family went bankrupt. After Helen had a child, she divorced Michael and then disappeared. She actually came back to the country.”
“Yeah, Helen came looking for him, using the client information to negotiate. She hasn’t handed it over yet, should be her biggest bargaining chip.”
During lunch, Chris and Felix indeed chose a teahouse.
“So you mean the client information Helen holds might be the pharmaceutical companies involved in Aitairy’s human experiments? Why hasn’t Helen handed it over? Isn’t police protection more effective than Michael’s?” Chris poured tea for himself and Felix. “Honestly, I don’t think Helen would still be alive if she handed it over.”
Police protection wasn’t 24/7, and it couldn’t last indefinitely. Any small gap could be exploited by Michael. Those client records wouldn’t quickly convict Michael.
“Women are smart, but when trapped in love, they often can’t see clearly. Helen is quite a pitiful person too– her parents died, she had a daughter, and Michael took her daughter away from her.”
“These are all methods Michael uses. That’s why Jessica and I don’t want Sophie to be next.”
Felix was surprised. “Sophie likes Michael too?”
“Not exactly. I’m not a psychologist, but from someone who has audited psychology courses, Sophie’s feelings towards Michael is just because she admires her sister. She’s always been following Jessica’s footsteps, which caused her to have the illusion that she likes Michael.”
