Episode 50

Elva hesitated, her words halting. "This is my fault. I was so preoccupied with my worries after the news that I lost track of my surroundings. While discussing things with my assistant in the hallway, I didn't realize Sandra was overhearing. Despite your quick grasp of the trends, it still deeply affected her. She even received abusive calls at midnight. I can't imagine who would do such a thing." Her voice trembled.

"You've always supported Sandra since the beginning of her career. She's never faced such blatant hostility. The online criticism is unnerving even for the most resilient, and she's particularly vulnerable. Mr. James, I truly didn't intend to involve you, but..."

Elijah interrupted, his tone firm. "I understand. I'm already on my way to see her."

A faint smile touched Elva's lips. "Mr. James, Sandra will be thrilled you're coming. A visit might be just what she needs. Oh, and perhaps bring some roses? She loves them dearly."

No sooner had Elijah disconnected than Oliver entered, carrying a large bouquet of roses. "Mr. James, these arrived by air. I believe Mrs. James will be delighted."

Elijah glanced at them briefly. "Sandra is experiencing heart complications. We're going straight to the hospital."

Oliver blinked, surprised. "What about Mrs. James, then?"

Elijah's tone was unwavering. "This is a life-or-death situation. Priorities are clear."

Understanding dawned on Oliver; his expression softened slightly. Elijah added, "Pick up ninety-nine more roses."

"Understood," Oliver replied, his tone a blend of duty and hesitation. He refrained from further questions. He carefully arranged the dark pink roses, elegantly wrapped in crisp white paper and gauze, on the passenger seat and returned to the flower shop.

Elijah critically examined the bouquet in his car. These flowers, rich in color and exquisitely wrapped, caught the light beautifully. Shortly after, Oliver reappeared with another bouquet, placing it beside the first. He slid into the driver's seat, started the engine, and they departed. The hospital was nearby, and they arrived quickly.

Once parked, Oliver sprang from the car and opened the back door. Roses in hand, Elijah swiftly exited, and they hurried toward the hospital's entrance.
