Episode 98
Elijah immediately suspected Camille was behind Elizabeth's presence at the club the previous night. He attributed Elizabeth's recent erratic behavior to Camille's influence, particularly her provocative attire.
Disregarding Camille, Elijah addressed Elizabeth directly. "Seeing the company you keep," he remarked, "it's no surprise your behavior has deteriorated."
Elizabeth, accustomed to their veiled insults, found this accusation intolerable. "Isn't this ironic?" she retorted sarcastically. "A cheating husband and his mistress lecturing me on friendship and fashion? Look in a mirror; see the garbage you've become. Should I be dressing modestly? How about you two act like decent human beings for once?"
"Elizabeth!" Elijah boomed.
Sandra quickly intervened, softening her voice. "Please, Elijah, don't be upset. This is my fault. Let's not argue."
Longing to escape their judgmental stares, Elizabeth's gaze drifted toward the exit. Camille, witnessing Elizabeth's defiance, almost applauded but restrained herself. Instead, she confidently slid her credit card across the counter, declaring, "I'll take this dress."
Elizabeth interrupted, casting a disdainful glance at Elijah. "No, thank you," she said. "What a disaster—I chose the same dreadful dress as Ms. Sandra. We should avoid repeating such a mistake." Her words were a pointed jab at Elijah, suggesting their marriage was equally ill-conceived.
Camille nodded in agreement, adding, "Absolutely! With those white flowers? It's far more suitable for a manipulator feigning purity and innocence."
The sharp exchange was brief. Elijah remained firm, prepared for further insults.
"Don't waste your breath," Elizabeth stated resolutely. "Say what you will; I respect that, but I'm standing my ground." She turned and headed for the fitting room.
Witnessing Elijah's humiliation, Sandra's worry about Elizabeth's anger subsided. She believed Elizabeth's growing confidence would eventually wear down Elijah's patience.
After Elizabeth changed and left with Camille, Sandra approached Elijah, feigning concern. "Elijah, I'm sorry for the trouble between you and Ms. Elizabeth. Don't worry about me. Perhaps you should follow her. She's strong-willed, but even the toughest need a little indulgence. A little extra attention might ease the tension," she suggested softly.
Elijah turned away, his expression cold and detached. "You needn't concern yourself with her," he replied icily.
