Listen to this chapter:

Alarieka pressed her lips together and didnโ€™t say a word. She took her left hand off the IV stand, not caring about the needle still stuck under her skin, and used both hands to tie her shoelaces tight.

This was probably the tightest sheโ€™d ever tied them in her life, including before.

She wasnโ€™t willing to lose to Kieran and Roschelle, forgot she was still sick, and suddenly stood up.

The result was a wave of dizziness.

All Alarieka could see was a blur of white light in front of her eyes, and she barely held onto the wall to keep her balance.

She hadnโ€™t opened her eyes yet, and a gentle womanโ€™s voice came from beside her ear.

โ€œHi, do you need help? You really look pale,โ€ the woman said, then screamed, โ€œYour IV came out, your hand is bleeding! Iโ€™ll get the doctor for you.โ€

Alarieka opened her eyes and saw that the IV needle on the back of her hand had somehow slipped out from under her skin. The needle had left a really obvious red scratch on her hand, and little drops of blood were oozing out from the thin cut.

This bright red blood stood out on the pale, bloodless back of her hand.

Alarieka looked over, not showing much emotion, and just said quietly, โ€œThanks, could you help me find a nurse?โ€

The woman looked at Alarieka, then at Kieran and Roschelle not far away.

When she saw Kieranโ€™s face, the womanโ€™s eyes clearly paused, and obvious amazement showed in her gaze.

The woman nodded hard and said, โ€œThen wait for me, Iโ€™ll be back soon.โ€

Alarieka pinched the IV tube and didnโ€™t let the liquid from the bottle drip down.

She just put the IV stand outside the bathroom, didnโ€™t even look at Kieran and Roschelle, and went in.

After she came out, Kieran and Roschelle were already gone.

Only that kind woman and the nurse were still waiting outside.

The nurse saw the wound on the back of her hand right away, quickly came over and wiped the blood off with a cotton swab, then carefully put the IV back into another vein on the back of her hand.

โ€œThe patient needs to know how to protect themselves. Your situation was already considered goodโ€“there wasnโ€™t any swelling. If it had swollen, you would have suffered. You canโ€™t do this again in the future.โ€

Alariekaโ€™s chest felt warm and comfortable. Looking at the nurse and the woman, she said softly, โ€œThank you.โ€

The nurse said no need and left.

The woman stayed and carefully asked her, โ€œLet me help you back. You donโ€™t look so well.โ€

Alarieka was just about to shake her head when the woman suddenly said angrily, โ€œThat was your exโ€“boyfriend and his current girlfriend just now, right? Sheโ€™s just pregnant, so what are they showing off for?โ€

Alarieka was a bit speechless and amused: โ€œNo, I donโ€™t know them.โ€

The woman obviously didnโ€™t believe it: โ€œYou really donโ€™t know them? The way they looked at you was just so...just soโ€ฆโ€

The woman finally found the right words: โ€œItโ€™s just all about love and hate, but a guy who brings his current girlfriend to show off in front of his ex is really low. You donโ€™t need to be sad.โ€

Alarieka paused for a moment.

He really wasnโ€™t a good person, and he had no class.

She laughed softly, โ€œThank you, they really werenโ€™t good people.โ€

The woman proudly lifted her chin: โ€œI was right.โ€

Footsteps came from the side of her ear, and Alarieka instinctively looked over, meeting Kieranโ€™s deep, dark eyes and his lightly pressed thin lips.

Alariekaโ€™s face changed.

It was still the woman who noticed something was off. When she saw Kieran, she suddenly frowned and quickly helped her by the arm to leave. She only left Kieran with her back.

Kieranโ€™s deep, rich voice came from behind: โ€œYou left your phone at home.โ€

Alariekaโ€™s eyelashes fluttered.

Kieran said โ€œat home.โ€

She knew her phone was left at the Argentโ€™s villa last night, so she knew Kieran called the Argentโ€™s villa home in front of her.

Alarieka felt sarcastic and helpless inside.

The Argent family kicked her out, but still wanted her to see the Argentโ€™s villa as home.

Was it too cruel, too bossy?

The Argentโ€™s villa wasnโ€™t her home; she never felt like the Argentโ€™s villa, a place that could be called dangerous, was her home.

So she replied calmly, โ€œIโ€™ll go back and get it later, sorry for the trouble.โ€

It was a very polite and distant tone.

This tone worked for a lot of people.

But Kieran never thought that Alarieka, who used to act all wild and reckless, would actually talk to him in this kind of tone.
