Chapter 102

It was like the two of them were just strangers passing by, instead of the people who had been close at the Argent villa for almost five years.

Kieran’s eyes darkened, and he said in a low voice, “You only had today to take it back. If you didn’t come by the end of today, I was going to throw the phone away.”

He knew Alarieka had a bunch of photos of him and the two of them on her phone, so Alarieka definitely couldn’t bear to throw the phone away.

Alarieka heard Kieran say that and wasn’t surprised. That’s how he was; he never treated her like a real person.

She calmly accepted Kieran’s tone and words, but the woman next to her wasn’t happy.

The woman frowned hard and muttered, “What’s wrong with your ex-boyfriend? It was just left with him for a while, right? Why did he throw away your phone? I thought your ex-boyfriend was so good-looking; he should at least have some decency, but I didn’t expect him to be such a turn-off.”

Alarieka raised her hand and gently patted the woman’s hand to comfort her. “It’s fine, I talked to him.”

Alarieka stopped walking and didn’t look back. She just said calmly, “Then I’ll trouble you to take care of it. If it’s lost, it’s lost. It’s not important.”

Not important?

Was the phone not important, or were the photos in the phone not important?

Kieran’s brows furrowed right away, and he called out in a low, warning voice, “Alarieka.”

This time, Alarieka didn’t pay attention to the man and walked away quickly.

The woman helped Alarieka back to the IV spot and left quickly, and Alarieka only had time to thank her.

Tamika showed up late, holding two bowls of steaming vegetable soup. She put them on the chair next to her, then quickly took out a spoon and handed it to her. “Hurry up and eat, I just bought it.”

Alarieka smiled with her lips pressed together and took the spoon. “Okay.”

An hour later, Alarieka’s IV finished, and her body temperature went down. She and Tamika stood at the hospital entrance, waiting for the taxi they ordered on their phone to come.

Tamika frowned, “I remember your phone was still at the Argent villa; do you need to go back and get it?”

Alarieka shook her head. “Forget it, let’s just buy a new one.” She really didn’t want to set foot in the Argent villa again during this time.

Tamika nodded, “Okay, anyway, we already have money.”

What came faster than a taxi was Kieran’s Rolls-Royce.

Alarieka saw the familiar license plate, and her face suddenly changed. Before she could step back, Kieran had already parked the Rolls-Royce right in front of her.

Alarieka was busy pulling Tamika by the wrist, trying to leave, but Kieran moved even faster. He suddenly pushed open the car door, got out, and strode over to her, blocking her way.

Looking at the man in front of her with a gloomy face, Alarieka got so angry that her pale face turned red. “Kieran, what else did you want to do?”

Kieran’s thin lips curled into a mocking smile. “I never said that what happened last night is over.”

Alarieka frowned. “So what else did you want to do?”

Kieran said, “Rhett has been arrested by the police, and now they need you to go to the police station to help with the investigation.”

Tamika suddenly pulled her behind her. The middle-aged woman who used to flatter and please the Argent family, always smiling, suddenly got mad at Kieran and pointed at his nose, yelling: “I don’t care who you are. No one could bully Alarieka. Police station? Whatever, I don’t care about any of that, and neither does Alarieka. You couldn’t scare me!”

Alarieka looked at Tamika with shock in her eyes. She knew Tamika had always been a tough woman, but whenever she was around the Argent family, she would always hold back her temper and try to please the Argent family with a fawning smile. She didn’t know, but Tamika actually talked to Kieran like that one day.

She was glad about Tamika’s change, but she was also scared. She'd seen way too many of Kieran and the Argent family’s tricks, and there was just no way she and Tamika could handle them now.

She took Tamika’s hand: “Mom.”

Tamika angrily shook off her hand and glared at Kieran. “Every time Alarieka went to the Argent’s villa to see you, she came back all hurt. You guys bullied her like that – weren’t you afraid of getting struck by lightning?! Alarieka was my daughter; you guys didn’t care about her, but I did! I would never let you take her away, never!”
