The amount that could make Rhett do something like this definitely wasnโt small. It must have been a number big enough to impress Rhett.
The police said, โWe already checked. None of his relativesโ accounts that we found had any suspicious sources of money.โ
Alarieka paused for a moment.
With no evidence, the police had no right to hold her, so Alarieka left soon.
Kieran pulled her into the Rolls-Royce and said, โGo back to the Argentโs villa.โ
Alarieka struggled to get out of the car. Kieran locked all the doors and soon drove the car onto the road.
Alarieka just felt like there was too much drama in the Argentโs villa and really didnโt want to go back.
โWhat did you go there for?โ
Kieran didnโt answer and just silently drove the car to the Argentโs villa.
Alarieka got out of the car with Kieran.
The Argentโs villa was really different now compared to before.
There were cute, pink stuffed toys in the living room and in every corner. Those were Roschelleโs toys. The maids working in the kitchen were whispering something.
โBe careful, this was soup for Ms. Whitaker.โ
In the past, only part of the living room had carpet. Now, almost every area had soft carpet, and even some sharp corners, like the table corners, had soft things stuck on them to prevent bumps.
There were signs everywhere in the villa that Roschelle had been carefully taken care of.
Alarieka stood in the living room, feeling like she didnโt fit in with this villa she had lived in for five years.
She stood on the living room carpet, her cold eyes looking at Kieranโs back: โWhereโs my phone?โ
Kieran pointed to a spot on the couch, and Alarieka walked over and picked up the phone from between the couch cushions.
She pressed the phoneโs power button, but the screen didnโt light up. Sure enough, it was out of battery.
Alarieka put her phone away: โNothing much, Iโll get going first.โ
โWait a second.โ
Roschelleโs voice came from upstairs.
Alarieka looked up and saw Roschelle standing at the door of the room next to Kieranโs. She had a gentle smile on her face, was holding her lower back, and carefully came down the stairs.
Kieran walked over, took Roschelleโs arm, and carefully helped her to the living room.
Roschelle sat on the couch and said softly, โI remember you had a fever, so you went to the hospital for an IV, right?โ
She smiled gently, but there was obvious pride and provocation in Alaricka in her eyes.
โIt was me who asked Kier to bring you back. Kier, seriously, did he not talk to you nicely again? Let me apologize for him. By the way, the kitchen lady made chicken soup today, you can come and try some.โ
Alarieka thought Roschelle didnโt need to.
Kieran only had her and the kid in his heart and eyes; there was no place for her at all.
There was no need to rush and show off Kieranโs affection for her to her. She didnโt want to compete, and she didnโt care to.
She was just about to say no when the maid behind her put two bowls of chicken soup on the coffee table.
The maid was still mumbling something to Roschelle.
โMs. Whitaker was really too kind. A woman with such a nasty mind, and she still brought her chicken soup. She might not even deserve to drink the soup.โ
The smile in Roschelleโs eyes grew wider, and she pretended to be considerate, saying, โSorry, Alarieka, she just cared about me too much. Donโt mind her.โ
Alarieka watched the maid and Roschelle, one playing good cop, the other bad cop, almost trampling all her reputation and dignity into the ground.
She curled her lips, sarcasm in her eyes: โSince this chicken soup is so precious, I wonโt drink it. Iโll leave it all for Ms. Whitaker.โ
โMy illness wasnโt serious. I was almost better, but Ms. Whitaker really needed to take good care of her pregnancy.โ
Roschelle smiled and touched her belly, โI will. I will give birth to a healthy baby.โ
Alarieka nodded, โThen Iโll go first.โ
A bit of grievance showed up on Roschelleโs face: โAlarieka, youโre not drinking anymore?โ
Kieranโs deep, rich voice suddenly came from behind: โAlarieka.โ
Alarieka kept walking, but saw a bunch of servants blocking the door.
At the same time, there was a hint of warning in Kieranโs voice.
โDidnโt I say, donโt make things hard for Rose.โ
Alarieka looked at the servants blocking the door aggressively, suddenly turned around, picked up the bowl of chicken soup from the coffee table, and drank it all in one go.
Finally, she held the bowl upside down in her hand, and not a single drop fell out.
