Chapter 18
โI want to show the truth to everyone. Why is Clarissa stopping me? Whatโs she hiding? Is she scared?โ
Kieran remained silent. There was a cold, oppressive look in his eyes.
Alarieka continued calmly, โKieran, I just want to check the camera footage. Afterward, if you still think Iโm in the wrong, I wonโt complain.โ
She sneered. โBut Iโm afraid you donโt have the guts to face the truth. You just want to shut me up.โ
Her tone dripped with sarcasm. Kieran frowned.
Didnโt this scene feel familiar to Alarieka? In her previous life, he jumped to a conclusion without evidence, blaming her and defending Roschelle.
That time, he locked her up in the storage room of the villa for a month. She could only have one meal every day.
The domestic workers were all snobs. Sometimes, the food had gone bad. It meant Alarieka had to go hungry.
With the windows shut, the storage room was dark. Then, Alarieka had a fever, too groggy to tell the daytime from the night, dipping in and out of consciousness.
She cried and begged for the help of the people outside. The nonchalant reply of Kieranโs assistant was all she got.
โMs. Huston, knock it off, or youโll have to stay here longer.โ
When she was finally released one month later, she was appallingly skinny and taken to the hospital for rescue.
Luckily, the treatment was in time. Otherwise, sheโd have become a retard due to the fever.
This time, no one could do that to her again!
Alarieka didnโt expect Kieran to defend her.
But the sight of him taking Clarissaโs side without hesitation still hurt.
With a frown, Kieran stared at Alarieka. His eyes betrayed no emotion.
Just when Alarieka was almost certain he would refuse to check the camera footage, he said, squinting, โLetโs check the camera footage.โ
Extremely nervous, Clarissa almost shrieked, โNo!โ
Alarieka sneered, โWhy not? What are you nervous about?โ
Clarissaโs face went pale. Biting her lower lip, she denied, โIโm not.โ
Kieran glanced at Clarissa, and Clarissa shut up at once.
Without another word, Kieran gestured to the principal with his eyes. Then, he sat on the couch, crossed his legs, and put his folded hands on his knees.
Roschelle stood beside Kieran. When she lowered her head, her smooth and fair neck showed. She looked at him with her gentle, affectionate eyes.
Kieran turned his head slightly and said in a deep, husky voice, โSit.โ
With a faint smile, Roschelle sat next to Kieran, pressing her arm against his intimately.
The principal had his subordinate find the video and play it to everyone. It showed clearly how Clarissa and her sidekicks made trouble for Alarieka at her desk.
The truth was finally out. It was dead silence in the principalโs office. Clarissa was extremely embarrassed. Biting her lower lip, she glared at Alarieka.
Alarieka turned to Kieran. โWell, still think I should apologize?โ
Kieran didnโt answer. The whole thing was clear now. He said to Clarissa, โClarissa, apologize.โ
Clarissa refused through gritted teeth, โNo!โ
Almost simultaneously, Alarieka declared, โDonโt bother. I donโt want her apology.โ
Kieran looked at her, confused.
Alarieka left without sparing anyone so much as a look.
Tamika stood there, flustered. She smiled fawningly at the sullen Kieran and ran after Alarieka.
Alarieka pressed through the crowd calmly. Tamika caught up to her and grabbed her wrist.
โAlarieka, Clarissa is a member of the Argent family. Donโt be rude.โ
Looking at her coolly, Alarieka remembered Kieranโs words.
