Alaricka thought: Here it comes.
Victor stated gravely, โYouโre still a student. Why confess to me? Even as an adult, youโre a high schooler. Dating would be premature. I absolutely cannot reciprocate.โ
Alarieka: Fine, fine.
Now she was certain โ Victorโs logic circuits were thoroughly fried. His reasoning defied all norms.
Jaylene watched Alariekaโs face flush crimson and couldnโt suppress a chuckle.
Victor eyed the book in Alarickaโs hand dismissively. โThis is good. Study hard. Save distractions for university.โ
Alaricka gritted her teeth. โRight now, Iโm distracted by how to knock your head off.โ
Victor mumbled, โSo violent?โ
Alarieka retorted, โCare to test thatโโ
Suddenly, Victor leaned in abruptly.
Though avoiding direct eye contact, Alarieka sensed his movement peripherally. Her brow twitched as she instinctively recoiled, but Victor seized her shoulders, pinning her firmly. His thin lips brushed her cheek as he hissed urgently, โDonโt move.โ
He then pressed downward, wedging his entire torso between Alaricka and the table.
Stunned, Alaricka looked down. โVictor, what are you doing?โ
His flawlessly sculpted face filled her vision, magnified and impossibly striking up close. Yet irritation flared โ his face hovered mere centimeters from her abdomen and thighs. โGet. Up.โ
Victor shook his head grimly, voice low. โHelp me.โ
His eyes darted sideways. Following his gaze, Alarickaโs expression shifted.
Near the cafe entrance stood two men scanning the room, exchanging low words. By their expressions, they probably hadnโt spotted Shi Yao yet. But if Shi Yao wasnโt hiding, theyโd easily see him from this angle. Though unsure about Shi Yaoโs relationship with these two men, that didnโt stop Alariekaโs thoughts.
Alaricka understood, looking down at him: โGot it. Those two are looking for you, and you donโt wanna be found?โ
Shi Yao grunted without further explanation.
Alaricka raised an eyebrow: โFine. Iโll help if you agree to one thing.โ
โYou.โ Shi Yao hesitated, frowning as his ears flushed, โI wonโt agree.โ
Alaricka rolled her eyes: โWhatโs wrong with you?โ
Jaylene glanced over suspiciously: โWhat are you two doing? This is public. Donโt cause a scene.โ
Alaricka sighed: โWhat nonsense are you imagining?โ She looked down at Shi Yao, smirking: โYou started learning computers in elementary school?โ
Shi Yao said: โYeah.โ
โHow good are you? Expert level?โ
Shi Yao said: โDoubting me?โ
Alarieka grinned: โOkay, got it.โ
Alarieka glanced toward the men again. Confirming they hadnโt been spotted, she grabbed the backrest cushion, pressed it against the glass wall, and shielded Shi Yaoโs face completely from outside view.
โYou know Iโm learning computers?โ
โMhm.โ
Alarieka flashed a sly smile: โThen hereโs the deal โ I hide you, you teach me."
Though confused, Jaylene couldnโt resist her urge to get a hot tutor. Her eyes lit up: โWorks for me!โ
Shi Yao glared at Alaricka: โDo you know how valuable my time is?โ
Alarieka said: โOh? So thatโs a no?โ
As she spoke, she slowly lifted the cushion from the glass.
Shi Yao: โฆ
Alaricka warned: โTheyโre coming. If they walk here, theyโll see you.โ
Shi Yao said: โโฆStop moving.โ
Alaricka gave him a questioning look.
Shi Yaoโs expression twisted โ not quite angry or resentful, just conflicted. Reluctance filled his eye.
Alarieka nodded: โDeal.โ
She dropped the cushion as he muttered: โFine. I agree.โ
Shi Yao silently turned away, showing her his back.
Alarieka immediately noticed his crimson ears. She flicked one: โWhy so red?โ
Shi Yao watched his ear redden further from her touch. Clenching his teeth, he covered his ear: โQuit messing around!โ
Alarieka stopped teasing him. Elbow propped on her chin, she watched the two men pass by until they vanished from sight.
Alarieka watched the two men walk past, then slapped Shi Yaoโs hand: โGet up, theyโre gone.โ
