Alaricka looked down. “I told you long ago, Kieran and I are history. You said it yourself—he and his wife just celebrated five years. How could I still want him? Or do you really see me as someone who’d wreck a marriage?”

Shiyao immediately said: “Of course not, I, I… sorry, I misunderstood you, Alaricka, I was wrong.”

Alaricka was silent for a few moments: “Let’s go back to the company first. I still have to arrange the schedule; I need to squeeze out time for the Argent family.”

Shiyao looked at her, wanting to say something but hesitating.

Alaricka took out her phone and called a taxi. While waiting for the car, she saw the messages Jaylene had sent her when they were still at the restaurant.

Alaricka chuckled lightly: “I’m going on a business trip. As the head of Jiang Corporation, you should stay at the company. The company’s matters need your handling; we can’t do without you.”

Alaricka looked calm: “Found evidence of their meddling?”

Jaylene smiled frankly: “Of course, when I step in, there’s no spy I can’t catch, right?”

“But you should be careful too,” Jaylene suddenly said.

Alaricka raised her eyes: “What’s wrong?”

Jaylene’s expression turned colder: “I found out that someone in the tech department has some connection with the Argent family.”

The curve of Alaricka’s lips fell: “The Argent family? How is there still Argent family business?”

Jaylene added: “But the specifics aren’t clear yet. I’m still looking for evidence; can’t alert the enemy. I just want to remind you to be extra careful when you go there. Rose has been doing great these years, and with Kieran protecting her, and she’s narrow-minded, don’t let her trip you up.”

Alaricka nodded: “I understand.”

Jaylene suddenly clicked her tongue: “I’m still a bit worried. Why don’t you take someone with you?”

Alaricka clicked her tongue. “You have no idea. Shi Yao goes completely nuts around Kieran, spouting nonsense. I can’t make heads or tails of it.”

“What nonsense?” A sly, gossipy gleam sparked in Jaylene’s eyes as she pondered.
