Listen to this chapter:

When she was alone with Kieran, Roschelle always showed up. It was the same this time, too.

Roschelle smiled gently and walked over to take Kieranโ€™s arm: โ€œKier, did you invite Ms. Huston just to eat this cake?โ€

She was a bit helpless: โ€œDidnโ€™t I say to have a good talk with Ms. Huston? How did it end up with giving Ms. Huston cake?โ€

Alarieka, who didnโ€™t have time to eat the cake, just bit off a piece and said, โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

Roschelle raised her eyebrows in surprise: โ€œDidnโ€™t Kier tell you? Itโ€™s because of your schoolโ€™s anniversary. At first, the school picked you to play the piano, but later they changed it to me and Kier. I felt bad about it, so I told Kier to apologize to you properly.โ€ There was a look of helplessness between her brows: โ€œBut I didnโ€™t expect Kier would only give you cake. Ms. Huston, I will definitely talk to him later. I wouldnโ€™t let you be wronged.โ€

So thatโ€™s how it was.

Alarieka put down the fork, and her mood went up and down again. No wonder, no wonder Kieran suddenly acted like he had a conscience and wanted to celebrate her birthday! So it was to โ€œapologizeโ€ for Roschelle. The honey in her hand suddenly turned into poison. Alarieka lost her appetite.

Alarieka curled her lips into a cold, mocking smile: โ€œOh really?โ€

Roschelle pressed her lips together and smiled awkwardly, โ€œYeah, what do you want? Iโ€™ll have Kier go buy it. Just think of it as a little something from us.โ€

โ€œNo need.โ€

Alarieka set down the fork, stood up, faced Roschelle and Kieran, and her voice was eerily calm. โ€œDonโ€™t apologize, I didnโ€™t need it.โ€ She looked at Kieran, her voice flat: โ€œMr. Argentโ€™s apology is really too much for me, I canโ€™t afford it, and I donโ€™t want to eat this cake either. Itโ€™s getting late, Iโ€™ll head out first and leave you two some space.โ€

Kieranโ€™s eyebrows twitched a little: โ€œAlarieka, Iโ€™ll have someone take you.โ€

Alarieka acted like she didnโ€™t hear anything, opened the door, and walked away quickly. On the way back, Alarieka yelled at Kieran for a long time in her mind.

The day before the school anniversary, Clarissa finally decided to leave the hospital and come to school. It was just the first day back, and Alarieka got blocked at the classroom door by Clarissa.

Clarissa smiled with a mocking, sarcastic look: โ€œAlarieka, I heard you got kicked out by Wallace, didnโ€™t you?โ€

Alarieka stood up straight and said, โ€œMove.โ€

Clarissa laughed with her friends, โ€œAlarieka, I thought Wallace really treated you like family. I didnโ€™t expect that before I even got out of the hospital, you got kicked out. Thatโ€™s really funny. You didnโ€™t have to pretend to be strong, I knew you were sad.โ€

Alarieka gave her a cold look, then sneered, โ€œI think whatโ€™s even funnier is Holter getting stripped naked by me in public. Have you seen the video? If you havenโ€™t, I can send you a copy.โ€

Clarissaโ€™s face immediately darkened: โ€œAlarieka, I havenโ€™t even started settling the score with you, and you still dare to mess with me?โ€

Alarieka smiled lightly, โ€œSo? Are you going to watch it or not? If you donโ€™t, Iโ€™ll send it to someone else.โ€

Clarissa glared at her and said, โ€œAlarieka!โ€ The smile on Alariekaโ€™s lips was faint.

The girls behind Clarissa suddenly whispered, โ€œI heard tomorrowโ€™s school celebration was going to be hosted by Alarieka, but her piano performance got replaced by Kieran and Roschelle.โ€

Clarissa acted like sheโ€™d caught some dirt and laughed out loud, โ€œYeah, Kieran and Rose were coming to perform at school, and some homewrecker just couldnโ€™t sit still, trying everything to get in.โ€

โ€œAlarieka, you hosted because of Kieran and Rose?โ€ Alarieka nodded calmly, โ€œYeah, I did it for them, so what?โ€

It was true, she really wanted to be a host because of Roschelle.

Clarissa gave her a look, just like she expected, teasing her: โ€œI said, Alarieka, do you really like being the clown that much?โ€

โ€œAlarieka.โ€ Suddenly, someone not far away called out Alariekaโ€™s name. It was Reyna.

Reyna didnโ€™t know how long she had been standing there, her brows furrowed, looking both angry and worried. โ€œAlarieka, come over, we went to rehearse.โ€

Alarieka bumped right into Clarissaโ€™s shoulder and walked out: โ€œFine.โ€

Clarissa wanted to say something else, but because of Reyna, she didnโ€™t dare stop her again.

In the hallway, Alarieka and Reyna walked together. There was worry in Reynaโ€™s eyes: โ€œAlarieka, I didnโ€™t expect things to be so hard for you. If you need any help, just come to me.โ€

Alarieka moved her lips a little and said softly, โ€œItโ€™s okay, I donโ€™t mind.โ€

Reyna frowned even more. โ€œOf course you care, you could be mad too, thatโ€™s your right.โ€
