Chapter 51
โMs. Huston, sorry, Clarissa was a bit impulsive. I hope you didnโt mind her,โ Roschelle gave a shy smile. โClarissa was just thinking too much for me; thatโs why she acted like that.โ
Tea talk.
Why didnโt you just say Clarissa was a bit impulsive, but she was right?
Alarieka curled her lips, her eyes calm and indifferent. โMs. Whitaker, if you really felt sorry, you should bow and apologize properly. I'm tired of you saying one thing to my face and another behind my back.โ
Roschelleโs elegant smile paused at the corners of her mouth. She gave a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth, her eyelids drooped, and it was a really aggrieved look. Roschelle bit her lip, lifted her eyelids, and looked at Kieran with that I want to say something but I canโt and pitiful look.
Kieran really felt sorry for her, put his arm around Roschelleโs shoulders, his eyes dark, looking at Alarieka like a warning. His voice was low and sharp, โAlarieka.โ
Alarieka looked up and smiled, pressing her lips together. โIf Mr. Argent really cared about Ms. Whitaker, he shouldnโt have brought her to me. My mouth, whenever I see you guys, just wants to bite.โ
Kieranโs eyes narrowed a bit, showing a chilling intensity.
โIf I had known you guys were coming, I wouldnโt have come.โ Alarieka slowly lifted her heavy skirt and turned to leave.
Kieranโs eyes stopped on Alariekaโs slender, fair neck, then slowly moved down to the high heels Alarieka was wearing. Today, Alarieka wore a light-colored dress. The bottom was a really heavy and puffy big skirt. When she lifted the skirt, it showed her white high heels that glowed a little under her feet. The heels on the high heels were really high, and usually girls at this age werenโt used to them. Not only did she walk steadily, but she was also tall. She kept her back straight with every step and walked beautifully. Even just the back view could make people imagine things. But Alarieka walked really steadily, like she wore them a lot.
Kieran lowered his eyelids, raised his hand and gently touched the back of Roschelleโs head, saying softly, โLetโs go.โ
Roschelle smiled, pressing her lips together, and said softly, โOkay, letโs go together.โ
The scene at the school anniversary was way livelier than before, and a lot of people who werenโt students here came in from outside, all crowding into the school auditorium. Alarieka stood on the stage and could see clearly. A good number of people held up pink light signs for Roschelle, held them up high, and cheered loudly.
โRoschelle! Roschelle!โ
The pink light signs almost made the whole hall look a bit pink. A lot of people came for Roschelle, and some came for Roschelle and Kieran. After Alarieka got on stage, the voices calling Roschelle from the audience suddenly stopped. Instead, there were quiet, teeth-gritted curses.
โHow come it was her? What bad luck?โ
โCan you get off the stage? Donโt let this kind of person host Roseโs show. I really couldnโt stand the sight.โ
โDead homewrecker.โ
Some voices just said it out loud without hiding it at all. The hosts next to Alarieka looked at Alarieka a few times with somewhat awkward expressions on their faces. Alarieka started as usual.
โWelcome, everyone, toโฆโ
Roschelle and Kieranโs duet was saved for the final act, and Alarieka stood so long her legs went numb before she finally got to call out Roschelle and Kieran under the spotlight. โThe next program was a four-hand piano performance by our alumni, Mr. Argent and Ms. Whitaker. They played โMy Love.โ Letโs give a big hand to Mr. Argent and Ms. Whitaker!โ
Before she finished speaking, her voice was drowned out by the cheers of Roschelleโs fans.
โRoschelle! Roschelle!โ
Kieranโs name was mixed in there too. Alarieka went off the stage with the hosts and brushed past Kieran and Roschelle. She kept her head down and didnโt look at them. It was only when she stopped and looked up that she saw Kieran standing backstage, and only Roschelle was on stage. She frowned, โWhy didnโt Kieran go on stage?โ
The other three hosts, including the teachers and leaders in charge of the school anniversary, were all kind of stunned. The teacher walked up in a few steps, looking a bit flustered. โMr. Argent, why didnโt you go on stage? Is there something wrong?โ
Alarieka stared hard at Kieranโs back. Kieran put one hand in his pocket, turned his head slightly, and said coldly, โThis is her own piece. Let her play it alone. I didnโt need to share her honor.โ
The teacher was confused for a moment, then suddenly got it. โSo you just wanted Ms. Whitaker to play her own piece by herself.โ
