Chapter 86
Alaricka was forced to shed a few tears: โKieran, let me goโฆโ
Kieran looked down.
Alaricka suddenly shut her eyes.
She just felt a cool, soft touch on her eyelids, and the fleeting sensation, along with Kieranโs faint but distinct scent of fir, made her a little dazed.
โWhat are you crying for?โ Kieranโs voice was low and deep.
Alaricka knew what that was.
That was Kieranโs kiss.
A tear finally fell from the corner of Alarickaโs eye. She opened her eyes, which were red, her pale cheeks flushed with excitement, and her lips trembled.
โKieran, I didnโt want to be the other woman,โ Alaricka thought. What was this supposed to be? Last night you made her drink ten strong drinks, and now youโre doing this. Was this like giving a slap and then handing over a sweet date?
The word "mistress" dropped, and Kieran went quiet for a moment. Then he got off her, and that scent of fir left with him.
Alaricka hugged the cup and curled up in the blanket. Kieranโs deep voice came through the sheets.
โWho thought you were the other woman?โ
Alaricka sneered and said directly, โI wish you and Ms. Whitaker have a baby soon.โ
She had her head covered, so she wasnโt too sure what was going on outside the blanket. She didnโt hear Kieranโs answer, just heard Kieranโs footsteps leaving, and the last thing he said.
โRemember to drink the chicken soup.โ
Hearing the door open and close, Alaricka finally came out from under the covers. She carefully avoided her left hand that was on an IV, sat up, and looked at the chicken soup on the nightstand that was still steaming.
She smelled that greasy chicken soup again, and Alaricka felt sick to her stomach. She frowned and got out of bed, picked up the thermos, and was just walking into the bathroom when Jaylene came back with her little sidekick.
Jaylene saw her back and said in surprise, โWhy did you get out of bed?โ
Alaricka didnโt look back and answered in a low voice, โI wasnโt that weak either.โ
Jayleneโs footsteps slowly came closer, and she peeked around behind her: โAre you going to pour out the chicken soup? Arenโt you going to drink it?!โ
Alarickaโs hand paused, and she turned her head seriously and said, โThis smell made me feel kind of sick, I just couldnโt drink it at all.โ
Jaylene looked really worried and took the thermos from her hands. โThere was still a lot of chicken and drumsticks in there, this is called wasting food, do you have any sense or not?โ
โThis kind of chicken soup looked like it was made from free-range chicken. You just couldnโt compare it to farmed chicken. This kind was really nutritious.โ
Alaricka actually didnโt want to waste like this.
Jaylene was still rambling on, sounding sure of herself: โEven if those two had character issues, there was nothing wrong with this kind of chicken soup, right?โ
Alaricka pushed the IV stand and walked back. โThen you guys drink it.โ
Right away, Jayleneโs little followers all rushed over, fighting to get a drink. Alaricka slowly sat down by the hospital bed and quietly watched as Jaylene and the others finished all the chicken soup.
She looked up and saw Kieran and Roschelle, who had come back. Her heart skipped a beat.
Roschelle looked kind of down. After picking up her bag from the bench in the hospital hallway, she tugged on Kieranโs sleeve.
โLetโs go.โ
From a distance, Alaricka saw Kieranโs dark eyes, cold and sharp.
That day, Alaricka finished her IV and got discharged, and it was Jaylene who took her home.
Jaylene was a bit surprised when she saw the shabby rental building she lived in: โI thought girls like you all lived in villas. How come youโฆโ
Suddenly, Jaylene shut her mouth like she just remembered something. About the Argent family kicking Alaricka out, a lot of people in this city had heard about it, not to mention those who went to the same school as Alaricka.
โUhโฆ uh, you go up. Iโll just see you off here.โ
Alaricka said, โOkay.โ
The next day at school, the homeroom teacher just asked her and Jaylene and the others about their absence once or twice, kind of turned a blind eye, and didnโt ask anymore. Alaricka thought not many people would find out about what happened at the club, because Jaylene had already told those little followers over and over not to mention it outside.
But the impact of this thing still went beyond her expectations.
During the break, students came and went outside the classroom, and there were some excited whispers.
Alaricka had actually died once, so she didnโt care about these rumors.
