Chapter 93
She absentmindedly scrolled through her phone. Because of big data, as soon as she turned on her phone, her social app pushed her posts about Roschelle. Was it about her getting stuck at the club that night, or was it about Roschelle purposely setting up an innocent girl? Alarieka immediately frowned. Something was really off. Even if Kieran and Roschelle handled things really slowly, there was no way those posts were still up after five or six days. She felt kind of uneasy inside.
Alarieka stood up, pulled open the heavy curtains, and looked outside. There were a lot of people in the yard. Kieran and Roschelle stood out so much that Alarieka spotted them right away. The two stood together, with their backs to Alarieka. Alarieka couldnโt see their expressions, and the uneasiness in her heart just got worse. She pulled the curtains, was silent for a moment, and decided to leave before the birthday banquet.
Alarieka saw a chance, quietly went downstairs when no one was around, and hid in the corner. But who knew, the people who were supposed to stay in the yard came in. Alarieka didnโt know what was going on and secretly peeked out from the corner. She saw with her own eyes as Roschelle, surrounded by everyoneโs praise, sat down on the piano bench in the corner of the living room and lifted the piano lid.
Roschelle said softly, โIf everyone wants to see, then Iโll play โMy Loveโ for you.โ As she spoke, she looked up and met Kieranโs eyes. Her cheeks turned a little red, and her gaze was full of affection and shyness. โThis song โMy Loveโ was also one I played for Kier.โ
Alarieka saw Kieran lift the corners of his mouth, and there was a bit of softness in his cold, sharp eyes. Everyoneโs eyes shifted between the two of them, gossipy and a little flirty. The women who still had feelings for Kieran all looked disappointed. Looks like they didnโt have a chance.
Only Alarieka, after hearing what Roschelle said, had her pupils suddenly shrink and clenched her fists right away. How did Roschelle dare? How did you still dare to play this song in public? You just shamelessly copied a dead personโs work like this, didnโt care about your reputation at all?
Alaricka watched Roschelleโs slender, fair fingers dance over the piano keys, playing a tune she knew really well. The melody was elegant and touching. Almost everyone there was impressed. Alaricka only saw a glimpse behind Roschelleโs success. That poor, hardworking, kind girl, Lindsey. Alariekaโs eyes turned red, and her heart started beating faster. An accident just showed up all of a sudden.
A mop hanging behind Alarieka fell down and hit the floor with a pretty loud noise. The sound was really obvious in the quiet living room. Roschelleโs piano playing stopped all of a sudden, and everyone looked over. The hatred in Alariekaโs eyes flashed before she could hide it, and everyone saw it clearly.
Kieran frowned, his sharp eyes scanned her up and down. Roschelle turned her head to look over, her smile pausing a bit, like she felt wronged after being interrupted.
โMs. Huston came.โ
When they saw Alarieka, everyoneโs expression changed again. Everyone clearly remembered when Alarieka exposed Roschelle for plagiarism. After things blew up, Roschelle clarified on social media that Lindsey was actually herself, which totally embarrassed Alarieka. Thinking of this, everyone looked at Alarieka with a mocking and sarcastic expression.
โAlaricka wasnโt gonna say Ms. Whitaker copied again, right?โ
โWhat a clown. I didnโt have Ms. Whitakerโs good temper. If it were me, I wouldโve lost my temper a long time ago. Such a clingy thing.โ
Alaricka looked at everyoneโs face in the room. So this was the reason Kieran wanted her to stay. It was to let Roschelle โslap her in the faceโ again, to clear Roschelleโs name. Kieran really was pretty scheming for Roschelle. She wanted to shout, to speak, to prove for the dead Lindsey. Alarieka felt sad inside.
But she couldnโt. She was a useless thing. She could only let Kieran and Roschelle lead her by the nose. There was no room for resistance.
There was a hint of some unclear emotion in Kieranโs eyes, his dark gaze deep. โWhy didnโt you change your clothes?โ
Everyone gathered at the Argentโs villa were all big shots, all born with silver spoons in their mouths, and they always looked down on Alarieka, a driverโs daughter adopted by the Argent family. Adoption was always adoption, no matter how close the Argent family was to her, she still wasnโt their real, biological daughter. Besides, everyone knew that Alaricka was kicked out of the Argentโs villa by Wallace, and they also knew Wallaceโs attitude, so they looked down on Alaricka even more.
