Chapter 96

The person in front of me looked kind of familiar, but I just couldn’t remember.

The waiter said quietly, “It was me, that night at the club. The one you met was me, Rhett Ellison.”

Hearing this, Alarieka then remembered that this male waiter was the classmate who told her Jaylene was trapped by Calvin at the club.

Alarieka looked at his face. Back then, most of Jaylene’s high school followers started businesses with her. She kind of remembered those people. The only one she hadn’t seen on Jaylene’s team was Rhett.

She didn’t think much about it and just made some small talk: “You’re here for a part-time job? How much do you get a day?”

Rhett had a satisfied smile on his face: “The Argent family and these guests were really generous, the tips were already over a thousand.”

Alarieka suddenly widened her eyes: “How much? A thousand?!”

Rhett raised one finger and shook it, then raised two fingers.

“Not just three thousand.”

Alarieka suddenly felt that the dessert in her hand didn’t taste good anymore. She even wanted to go find Kieran right now and ask Kieran to hire her as a waitress.

Rhett looked around and said quickly in a low voice, “That’s it, I gotta get to work.”

Alarieka nodded with a sense of loss. After she lowered her head, steady and familiar footsteps gradually came closer to her. Alarieka was so familiar with his footsteps, she didn’t even need to look up to know who it was.

Kieran reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her up from the ground: “What were you thinking about, squatting here?”

Alarieka took a bite of dessert and scoffed, “What are you doing here? It’s your engagement party today. Why aren’t you with your fiancee? Why are you here looking for me?”

Kieran glanced at her, his eyes dark. “Rose told you to sit at the main table. Go now.”

The dessert in Alarieka’s hand almost fell. “She told you to come find me?”

Kieran glanced at his watch, didn’t explain, just said, “Hurry up.”

Alarieka didn’t care about her image and ate the last dessert in one bite, looking really messy. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Kieran frown in what seemed like disgust, and even loosen his grip on her wrist a little.

She secretly mocked, “If you don’t like it, then let go of your claws.”

As soon as he finished speaking—

“Ah!”

It was quiet in the living room, and the guests were talking softly, so this scream was really obvious. The guests heard this sound, and there was a bit more panic in the living room.

“What happened? Whose voice was that?”

Alarieka saw Kieran’s face suddenly change. A dark light flashed quickly in his narrow black eyes. He actually looked a bit anxious, with veins popping out on his forehead and the back of his hand. He immediately turned around and walked away in big strides.

Alarieka’s face turned serious.

Roschelle’s voice.

When she got to where the scream came from, she only saw Kieran holding Roschelle in his arms, full of protectiveness and possessiveness. One arm was wrapped tightly around Roschelle’s shoulders, his palm covering the back of her head, pressing her face into his neck.

Kieran’s face was dark, and there was a scary anger in his black eyes. His thin lips were pressed tight.

Roschelle sobbed softly in his arms, her hands clutching the fabric at Kieran’s waist.

“Kier, I was so scared…”

Alarieka lifted her eyelids and met Kieran’s eyes, which looked exactly the same as before. Cold, chilly, piercing, the look you give trash.

Alarieka’s heart skipped a beat. Before she could react, she followed Kieran’s gaze to the man lying on the ground, wailing.

Suddenly, her pupils shrank.

That was Rhett I just talked to.

Kieran’s low, husky voice came from above her head: “Alarieka, what’s your explanation?”

Looking at Kieran’s eyes, for a moment, Alarieka felt like she was back in the past. She went cold all over, her mind went blank, and she just couldn’t think at all.

The corners of Kieran’s eyes seemed to turn red, and his voice got even lower, “Alarieka, talk.”

Roschelle sobbed and grabbed the fabric on her shoulder, looking scared as she burrowed into Kieran’s arms.

“Kier, Kier.”

Clarissa got so mad her face turned red. She pointed at Rhett and shouted, “Alarieka, did you get someone to come bully Rose?!”

“You went too far this time. How could you bully Rose and use such dirty tricks.”

Only then did Alarieka notice that the fabric on Roschelle’s shoulder had marks from being pulled by someone.

Her eyebrows twitched a little, and she looked at Rhett, who was lying on the ground moaning.
