Debra paused. “I just saw Melody wearing a veil. Is she sick?”

“Well, not exactly,” Sophie faltered. “She suddenly decided to have plastic surgery. Her face isn’t quite presentable right now.”

“Plastic surgery?” Debra echoed.

“Yeah, something about anti-aging, tightening the skin, and removing wrinkles,” Sophie recalled from her previous appointment booking.

Debra couldn’t help but laugh, recalling Melody’s awful experience at the Eaton Mansion.

“Do you know which clinic she went to?” Debra asked.

“It’s a pretty high-end place, costing six figures. I think it’s called something like Victoria’s,” Sophie struggled to remember. She pulled out a business card from her pocket. “Here, this is the company.”

Debra took the card and glanced at it. The logo suggested that Victoria’s Beauty was a subsidiary of the Lowe Group. She chuckled to herself, “Typical Drake’s fraud business.” She then said to Sophie, “Thanks. Can I keep this?”

“Yeah, but please don’t let her see you here. Otherwise, she’ll make a scene,” Sophie said.

Melody had been complaining nonstop about Debra, even smashing things whenever she saw news about Debra and Marion on TV.

“Don’t worry. I’m just here to look around,” Debra assured her.

She scanned the area and shook her head, realizing that Juan would not show up. If what Andrew said was true, Juan’s absence would surely spark media speculation. He wasn’t so foolish as not to see that.

Just then, an unexpected guest arrived at the funeral, catching everyone’s attention. Drake, dressed in a black suit with a white flower pinned to his chest, came in with a blank expression. Kale followed closely behind him.

Whispers started immediately. “Isn’t that the CEO of the Lowe Group? What’s he doing here?”

“His company is said to be a partner of the Nichols Group. He’s probably here to show support.”

“Miss Eaton called off her engagement with him, and then he broke up with Miss Bernard. He’s in bad luck.”

Debra found the gossip amusing, watching as Drake entered the funeral hall. After paying his respects to the deceased, he turned to Melody. “My company is working with the Nichols Group, and I’m a friend of Mr. Nichols. Why isn’t he here today?”

Melody faltered, “Juan is heartbroken and not feeling well. He can’t be here to greet guests. I’m sorry.”
