Chapter 1014
Debra shook her head and said, โIโm not sure, but keeping them around doesnโt hurt. They have their freedom as long as things are under control.โ
Randy came downstairs. โChatting alone is not fun. Letโs watch some TV.โ He grabbed the remote and switched on the television. A news report blared from the screen: โThe Nichols Group CEO is suspected of killing his wife and is currently missing. The police are investigating, and the case is under further review.โ
Erica and Randy both turned to look at Debra. Randy threw up his hands. โIt wasnโt intentional. I just selected a random channel.โ
โChill,โ Erica smacked him on the arm. โItโs just fake news. Someone like Juan wouldnโt get his hands dirty to kill someone.โ
Debra frowned and headed upstairs. The door to the study was closed, with Barton standing guard outside.
โI need to see Andrew.โ
โMr. Andrew Potter is unwell and not taking visitors.โ
โWho are you kidding?โ
Debra shoved past him and opened the door. Inside, Andrew was lying on the bed surrounded by a group of foreign doctors performing an examination. Debra was taken aback. Barton pulled her back out of the room and explained, โMr. Andrew Potter is undergoing a routine checkup. Heโs really not feeling well. Please wait a bit. Heโll see you once heโs awake.โ
Debra had noticed Andrewโs pale complexion earlier. It wasnโt an act. He looked fine yesterday, but he was sick today. His condition wasnโt so stable.
She waited in her room for over an hour. Sensing her anxiety, Marion stood behind her and massaged her shoulders.
โWorried about Juan?โ he asked, his voice laced with jealousy.
Debra quickly explained, โNot exactly. I just feel like this situation could end up making me owe him a favor.โ
Shella was dead. There was no longer any connection between her and Juan. She didnโt think much when Juan offered his company in exchange for Melodyโs life. But if she took over the Nichols Group, she would be dragged back into his orbit.
โFair point,โ Marion said. โMaybe I should learn from him and make you owe me.โ
โCome on. Iโm not joking.โ Debra shot him an exasperated look. She couldnโt believe Andrew would use this kind of news to corner Juan. If the police dug into it and found Juan responsible for Sheliaโs death, he couldnโt escape the consequences.
โI am serious,โ Marion said, leaning closer. โIโm not great at sharing. If you still have feelings for another man, Iโd lose my mind with jealousy.โ
Debra blushed at his words, but before she could respond, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number, and a bad feeling crept over her. She answered, and Juanโs voice came through. โI need to talk to you alone.โ
