Chapter 102
Juan had gone home early. Upon seeing Debra, Sophie greeted her eagerly. โMadam, how was the gathering today?โ
Puzzled, Debra glanced at Juan, who was lounging on the sofa in the living room, reading a newspaper. Debra smiled, replying, โIt was good.โ
โYou should have asked Mr. Nichols to pick you up. Itโs not safe at this hour,โ Sophie said.
โItโs fine. He left his car to me,โ Debra replied. When she left the mall earlier, she had taken the car Juan had driven. Thinking of how Juan, who usually had a dedicated driver, had to take a taxi back, she felt a sense of satisfaction.
โSophie, thereโs nothing else for you. You can go home. Debra and I have some other matters tonight,โ Juan said. His words were meaningful.
Sophie happily agreed, โAlright, Iโll tidy up and go. Mrs. Nichols Sr. is waiting for me to clean up.โ With that, she started packing her things.
After Sophie left, Debra scoffed, โYouโre quite good at lying. Doesnโt your conscience ache?โ
โYou played along well,โ Juan responded indifferently. โI bought a house for Shelia. Itโs in the same neighborhood where you live. Itโs quiet, perfect for recovery, and very private.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow. โYouโre quite generous.โ Buying a house in that area wasnโt cheap. Although it might not be a big deal for Juan, it showed how much he cared for Shelia.
โI hope you can keep it a secret.โ
โAre you afraid Iโll see her one day and tell your grandmother? Donโt worry, you paid me hush money, and I wonโt rat you out,โ Debra said, heading upstairs to sort out her belongings. With the show over, she wasnโt keen on continuing to live under the same roof as Juan.
Juan frowned when Debra dragged her suitcase downstairs. โWhere are you going?โ
โI have classes tomorrow, so Iโm going back.โ
โIf you leave, and Grandma asksโฆโ
โTell her I went abroad for a vacation,โ Debra said. โThese days, Iโm not keen on seeing you either. Itโs mutual, right?โ
Juanโs face darkened. Debra casually adjusted her hair before leaving. Ericaโs car was already outside the house. Through the floor-to-ceiling window, Juan saw Debra get into the car and leave. His hands clenched the newspaper.
โDebra is so good at making friends. And they are so close that she doesnโt want to stay at home.โ
Juan made a call, instructing Joe, โGo find Shelia at school. Help her pack her things and move.โ
Joe was puzzled. โNow?โ
Erica stopped the car at the entrance of the residential area and swiped the card. Just as they were about to enter, Debra spotted Juanโs car. Joe was helping Shelia take the luggage out of the trunk.
The sight of Shelia instantly annoyed Erica. โShelia? What is she doing here?โ To live in this community, one needed identity verification. Only rich or noble people could move in. Shelia looked over, a hint of provocation in her eyes.
