Chapter 1039
Erica quietly opened Randyโs bedroom door at the crack of dawn. She tiptoed toward her own room. Just as she thought she was in the clear, a voice rang out behind her.
โErica, why arenโt you wearing shoes?โ
Startled, Erica spun around to see Debra standing there. Erica hastily hid the high heels she was holding behind her back. โI didnโt want to wake anyone up.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow. โGot drunk again last night?โ
โMe? No way,โ Erica exclaimed. โIt was Randy. He drank too much. I helped him back to his room, but he wouldnโt let go of me. I ended up falling asleep there.โ
She waved it off and added, โI was just worried youโd overthink things. Didnโt want to cause any misunderstandings.โ
โSo it is.โ Debra blinked knowingly.
Erica grew flustered. โIโm serious.โ
โTake it easy. I get it,โ Debra replied, her tone teasing.
Erica realized Debra had misunderstood. Worse yet, Debraโs eyes were fixed on the menโs shirt she was wearing.
Erica panicked and explained, โI mean it. He even threw up all over me last night. I had no choice but to wear his shirt.โ
Suddenly, the door to Randyโs room creaked open. He yawned, scratching his tousled hair. โWhat are you two arguing about early in the morning?โ
Erica seized the opportunity. โRandy. Tell her. You drank too much last night, wouldnโt let me leave, and threw up all over me.โ
โHuh?โ Randy blinked, his brain struggling to process.
Catching Ericaโs frantic gestures, he smacked his forehead and said, โOh, yeah. Last night I drank too much, and Erica took me back. I clung to her and threw up on her.โ
He repeated it like a robot.
Debra sighed, โI already knew that. No need to repeat it.โ
โGood, as long as thereโs no misunderstanding,โ Erica said, forcing a laugh. โI stayed up all night taking care of him. Iโll go back to catch up on sleep.โ
But Debra called after her, โErica.โ
โAnything else?โ Erica asked, her voice tinged with guilt.
Debra handed her an invitation. โHere is the wedding invitation. Make sure you come.โ
โYour wedding?โ Ericaโs eyes lit up, and she tugged at Randyโs arm. โSee? Iโm the first one to get the invitation.โ
Randy, still nursing a hangover, groaned as Erica shook him. โYeah, I found out about it yesterday.โ
โWhat? Why didnโt you tell me?โ Erica demanded.
Randy explained, โI found out when Marion told me about the wedding. Then I dragged him out for drinks. But who knew this guy, who hardly drinks, had such a high tolerance? I ended up being the one suffering. Donโt even get me started.โ
