Chapter 1049
Five dishes and a soup were spread across the table. That was the best Debra could manage in two hours.
Andrew glanced at the pots and pans scattered across the kitchen. โI bet the kitchen never expected all four stoves to be used at the same time.โ
Debra took off her apron and replied, โGood thing you have four stoves. Otherwise, it wouldโve taken me all day.โ
Just as she turned back toward the kitchen to get something else, Marion winked at Randy, who quickly got up. โLet me help you.โ
Erica chimed in, โMe too.โ
Marion fetched the rice and placed it on the table. Debra got the bowls for Marion and Andrew.
โHere is your bowl, Andrew.โ
Erica leaned toward Randy and whispered, โDonโt you think the vibe is a bit awkward?โ
โA little, yeah,โ Randy muttered back. โAre we really supposed to eat?โ
โWhat else can we do? Look at Marionโs face. If we donโt eat, itโll look like weโre not appreciating Debraโs effort. If you do that, heโll definitely teach you a lesson.โ
โWoe is on me. Shouldnโt have eaten so much earlier,โ Randy sighed.
Debra had done her research. The dishes were all light and healthy for Andrew, who was still recovering.
The atmosphere at the table was a bit tense. Andrew picked up his fork and knife. The first thing he tried was shrimp.
Everyone watched in anticipation. He noticed their looks and asked, โWhy are you all staring at me?โ
Erica broke the ice, asking on Debraโs behalf, โAbout what happened during the day, youโre not mad anymore, right?โ
She wanted to know too. After all, if Andrew was still upset, it could spell trouble for everyone in the house.
Andrew said calmly, โI donโt get it. Why would I be mad?โ
โWellโฆโ Erica almost blurted out the story about Debra fishing the pill out of the trash and forcing it down his throat.
But she caught herself just in time. The last thing they needed was to ruin the mood and offend Andrew.
โLooks like I missed some drama,โ Marion said, looking at Andrew.
Just then, Garland and Liza came downstairs. Theyโd been holed up in their rooms all day and had no idea what had been going on.
โWhy didnโt anyone call us for dinner?โ Garland grumbled, his eyes widening at the spread on the table. โWhoa! Did you make all this, Mrs. Houston?โ
