Chapter 1053
โIโll talk. It was Matthew Ledger. Please, spare me, Mr. Lowe,โ Silas said, terrified. He was just a small-time worker running errands for the big shots.
Drake narrowed his eyes, not expecting Matthew to be so bold. โBoss, what should we do with these people?โ Kale asked.
โBind them all up,โ Drake glanced at the boat. โStuff them in there, along with the machines, and send them to the West Factory. Weโll go meet Matthew.โ
โYes, boss.โ Kale gave orders to cram those men into boxes.
Among the group, six men suddenly pulled out their guns. โDonโt move!โ
Debra saw it and opened the car door. Looking nothing special, these people had blended into the crowd and acted only at the critical moment. Debra knew that the shipment of so many machines couldnโt go unsupervised. She hadnโt noticed anyone hidden earlier, but it turned out theyโd been embedded within the group. Clearly, whoever was behind this had infiltrated Drakeโs company.
โStand back!โ The six men grouped, scanning their surroundings to make sure Drakeโs men were unarmed. Only then did they begin to slowly retreat toward the boat.
At this point, Debra walked over. Drake grabbed her and pulled her behind him. โWhat are you doing? Get back.โ The men had guns, and so did he. If it came down to a gunfight, his shooting skills werenโt any worse. But this wasnโt Orkgate, and firing a gun here would cause huge trouble, especially since he was the CEO of the Lowe Group.
โRelax. Now that theyโve shown themselves, things will be easier to handle,โ Debra said, patting Drakeโs hand off her arm.
Soon enough, the police arrived and surrounded the area. Drake sulked, โYou called the cops?โ
โYes. To catch smugglers.โ
Drake was frustrated, signaled to Kale, who quickly took the hint and led his team to retreat. Then Drake planned to slip away, but Debra grabbed him. โMr. Lowe, donโt leave. Youโre a witness.โ
With the police getting closer, Drake hissed, โLet go of me.โ
โTake it easy. Theyโre not here for you,โ Debra said.
โBut they are cops.โ Drake was seething with anger. He was helping Debra here, but she brought in the cops.
โWhy? Youโre just a businessman doing legitimate business. Whatโs there to be afraid of? Without your identification, how would we prove theyโre smuggling?โ
โTheyโre armed. Thatโs enough to sentence them. Donโt drag me into this. I couldnโt care less about your business.โ
โIf you donโt, why are you helping me? Donโt worry. I know their boss. They wonโt arrest you.โ
