Marion leaned down to kiss Debra. Suddenly, the bedroom door burst open, taking them aback. They turned to see Randy standing in the doorway.
Realizing what he’d walked in on, Randy awkwardly cleared his throat and glanced upward. “Weird, huh? Where’d everyone go in the middle of the day? Guess I’ll check downstairs.” Before leaving, he added, “Oh, by the way, top trending news. Buchan Entertainment’s A-lister Lester Ashford just assaulted a fan.”
Debra immediately grabbed her phone. Sure enough, the top trending topic was #LesterHitsFan, and the story had gone viral across the internet. She tapped into the headline and saw a video shot by a fan.
In the video, fans greeted Lester at the airport as he got off the plane. A group of female fans held banners and chanted, “Lester, we love you.” The airport wasn’t overcrowded, and everything seemed orderly.
But as soon as Lester heard the chant, he smashed his water bottle to the ground and yelled, “Idiots! Does no one want you at home? All you do is follow me around screaming ‘love.’ Love my ass! Get lost!”
A female fan at the front tried to hand him a letter, but Lester snatched it, tore it to pieces, and shoved her aside. He even left his assistant behind.
Debra raised an eyebrow. “Lester Ashford, huh? He snatched a brand endorsement from Michael. The younger, trendier, and more vibrant in everyone’s eyes. He is Buchan’s top artist now. Didn’t expect him to be the first to crack under pressure.”
Marion, watching over her shoulder, nodded. “Sudden fame can mess with one’s mindset. And with ad deals piling up, Lester is the only one who can take them all. If he doesn’t, those deals might go to other companies. The management team won’t let that happen.”
“As Randy mentioned, Lester hasn’t slept in three days. Even on flights, fans harass him. If I were him, I’d lose it too,” Debra said with a sly smile.
Her plan to have their artists flaunt their vacations had done the trick. Buchan Entertainment’s artists were starting to crack under the pressure. The more unstable their mental state was, the more mistakes they’d make.
In the afternoon, Debra and Marion went downstairs. Randy had gotten dinner ready, and Erica was bouncing with excitement. “Lester’s top fan just unfollowed him and posted a long rant,” she exclaimed.
“Any juicy details?” Debra asked.
Erica blinked. “How’d you know there’d be a tell-all? You’re spot on.”
Debra explained, “When someone’s emotional anchor turns around and insults them, it’s only natural to spill the tea. If it were me, I’d do the same and make sure their reputation crashes.”
“Well, the post isn’t that scandalous,” Erica said. “Just that Lester has a bad temper and a messy personal life. But the real kicker? Netizens dug up his past and found out he used to date men. Apparently, he dumped his boyfriend after debuting, and the guy tried to kill himself with pills. Lester’s been marketing himself as straight this whole time. Fans are furious. Now everyone’s calling for a boycott. I bet the higher-ups will step in soon. He’ll probably be labeled a tainted artist. All those ad deals he just signed will be canceled, and Buchan Entertainment will be facing massive penalties.”
