Chapter 1069

The crowd gasped in shock.

โ€œWhat is he doing? Didnโ€™t he sign a contract with Debra?โ€ Randy fumed.

Debra frowned, and Erica demanded, โ€œYou better explain yourself. Didnโ€™t youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œMiss Mathis, some things canโ€™t be said openly, like when the previous CEO of the Mathis Group stepped down. Would you like to explain that?โ€ Juan said nonchalantly.

Seeing that his words rattled Erica, he continued, โ€œIf you donโ€™t want to talk about it, the Nichols family matters are none of your business.โ€

Debraโ€™s keen eyes caught a change of expression from both Erica and Randy. Apparently, Juan was forcing them to back down.

Liza whispered to Garland, โ€œWhy does the atmosphere feel so off?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t know, but Seamar Cityโ€™s a mess,โ€ he replied.

Earlier, Juan had promised to give all his shares to Debra, but in just a few days, he had changed his mind.

Garland quietly stepped into the corner.

Meanwhile, Erica took a step back and staggered. Randy quickly caught her and said to Marion and Debra, โ€œSheโ€™s not feeling well. Iโ€™ll take her home.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ll leave too,โ€ replied Debra. There was no point in staying any longer.

Just as they turned to leave, Theda called out to Debra and approached. โ€œMay we speak privately?โ€

Marion lowered his voice, saying, โ€œIโ€™ll wait for you over there. Call me if necessary.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Debra nodded.

Marion then walked to a spot five meters away.

Theda glanced at him and said, โ€œHe dotes on you. Your love is enviable.โ€

Debra brushed it off. โ€œWhat do you want to discuss?โ€

โ€œWell,โ€ Theda smiled, โ€œwhen I offered to buy your shares, that was a test of your stance.โ€

โ€œJuan and you planned this, didnโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œYeah. I donโ€™t bring a knife to a gunfight.โ€

โ€œSo, are you here to make a show of force?โ€

โ€œNot at all,โ€ Theda chuckled. โ€œI just heard that you care deeply about the people around you. Since youโ€™ve said that the Nichols Group doesnโ€™t mean much to you, why not just tear up the transfer papers? It would be easier for me to take over Juanโ€™s shares, and it would save your friends from any harm. Surely, you wouldnโ€™t want to hurt those close to you over something you donโ€™t even need, would you?โ€

Her eyes glinted, as if mocking Debraโ€™s decision to give up such a big company for so-called friends.

Debra remained composed. โ€œSo, you think youโ€™ve won?โ€
