Chapter 1069
The crowd gasped in shock.
โWhat is he doing? Didnโt he sign a contract with Debra?โ Randy fumed.
Debra frowned, and Erica demanded, โYou better explain yourself. Didnโt youโฆโ
โMiss Mathis, some things canโt be said openly, like when the previous CEO of the Mathis Group stepped down. Would you like to explain that?โ Juan said nonchalantly.
Seeing that his words rattled Erica, he continued, โIf you donโt want to talk about it, the Nichols family matters are none of your business.โ
Debraโs keen eyes caught a change of expression from both Erica and Randy. Apparently, Juan was forcing them to back down.
Liza whispered to Garland, โWhy does the atmosphere feel so off?โ
โDonโt know, but Seamar Cityโs a mess,โ he replied.
Earlier, Juan had promised to give all his shares to Debra, but in just a few days, he had changed his mind.
Garland quietly stepped into the corner.
Meanwhile, Erica took a step back and staggered. Randy quickly caught her and said to Marion and Debra, โSheโs not feeling well. Iโll take her home.โ
โWeโll leave too,โ replied Debra. There was no point in staying any longer.
Just as they turned to leave, Theda called out to Debra and approached. โMay we speak privately?โ
Marion lowered his voice, saying, โIโll wait for you over there. Call me if necessary.โ
โAlright,โ Debra nodded.
Marion then walked to a spot five meters away.
Theda glanced at him and said, โHe dotes on you. Your love is enviable.โ
Debra brushed it off. โWhat do you want to discuss?โ
โWell,โ Theda smiled, โwhen I offered to buy your shares, that was a test of your stance.โ
โJuan and you planned this, didnโt you?โ
โYeah. I donโt bring a knife to a gunfight.โ
โSo, are you here to make a show of force?โ
โNot at all,โ Theda chuckled. โI just heard that you care deeply about the people around you. Since youโve said that the Nichols Group doesnโt mean much to you, why not just tear up the transfer papers? It would be easier for me to take over Juanโs shares, and it would save your friends from any harm. Surely, you wouldnโt want to hurt those close to you over something you donโt even need, would you?โ
Her eyes glinted, as if mocking Debraโs decision to give up such a big company for so-called friends.
Debra remained composed. โSo, you think youโve won?โ
