Chapter 116
Debra couldnโt quite decipher Andrewโs meaning, but one thing was certain: he didnโt want her near the terrace. She didnโt challenge him, simply nodding politely before heading downstairs.
Reaching the bottom, she saw Jordan drinking alone near the staircase. Spotting her, he immediately set down his drink and asked, โWhy did you go upstairs?โ
โI just needed some fresh air,โ Debra replied. She noticed a hint of nervousness in Jordanโs eyes as she asked, โDoesnโt your brother like people going to the second floor?โ
โNot exactly. Thatโs where he discusses business,โ Jordan replied vaguely.
Debra had never attended a Potter family party before and was unfamiliar with their customs. However, she hadnโt been stopped when she went upstairs earlier, suggesting it was tacitly allowed by Andrew. Perhaps he wanted her to observe the event and keep her distance from Jordan.
โItโs getting late, and I should leave.โ
โIโll walk you out!โ
โItโs okay.โ
Just as Debra was about to leave, the gates opened, and Juan walked in. Everyone immediately raised their glasses to him, but he strode directly toward Debra.
โLetโs go home,โ Juan said, his tone brooking no argument.
Debra didnโt even look at him. Earlier, almost everyone had seen Juan leave with Sheila. Now he was back to take Debra away, a situation that would make her look foolish.
Jordan sneered, โWhy should she listen to you? Donโt you think youโre too overbearing?โ
Juan glanced at Jordan impassively and said, โDebra is my wife. If she doesnโt go home with me, should she go home with you?โ
โYou!โ Jordan, possessing a fiery temper, was instantly angered by Juanโs words. Amid the tense atmosphere, it was clear Juan was angry but restraining himself due to the public setting.
Debra didnโt understand the source of Juanโs anger, wondering if he blamed her for Sheila fainting.
โJordan, apologize to Mr. Nichols.โ Andrewโs voice came from behind as he emerged from the elevator. Jordan, unable to defy his brother, reluctantly said, โMr. Nichols, Iโm sorry.โ
Juan grabbed Debraโs hand and started to leave. Debra winced in pain, unable to understand why he was gripping her hand so tightly.
Before Juan reached the door, however, a group of bodyguards blocked his path. Debra observed them; these men were armed with stun batons. 'Diplomacy followed by force?' she thought. This was interesting.
โMr. Andrew Potter, donโt you want me to leave?โ Juan asked.
โIf you wish to leave, no one would dare stop you,โ Andrew said with a faint smile. โBut Ms. Frazier is Jordanโs friend and a guest of the Potter family. Unless she chooses otherwise, no one can take her away.โ
Juan narrowed his eyes. The tension in the air was palpable. Andrew turned to Debra with a slight smile. โMs. Frazier, what is your choice?โ
