Chapter 12
Only Juan would be deceived by Shelia. Juan liked Shelia, making it difficult to see through her.
โAlright, itโs not a big deal. Shelia still has class today. Iโll take her to school,โ Juan said, giving Shelia a look that indicated she should leave. Shelia looked grateful.
โDebra and I are going shopping today. Since youโre not busy, come along with us,โ Melody said.
โBut Sheliaโฆโ
โLet Joe take her back. Youโre the CEO of Nichols Group. Donโt do anything that tarnishes your status.โ Melodyโs words were final.
Shelia bit her lip and said, โMr. Nichols, itโs fine if Joe takes me to school. Donโt upset Mrs. Nichols.โ She politely bowed to Melody, but Melody didnโt appreciate it.
โIโll see you off,โ Juan said. Shelia nodded.
As Juan escorted Shelia out, Melody turned to Debra. โJuan is young and easily deceived by these vixens. You should be more vigilant.โ Debra nodded outwardly, but inwardly hoped these two would progress faster.
โIโve noticed youโve been putting less effort into Juan lately,โ Melody said, holding Debraโs hand. โYou need to capture his heart. At least have a chubby little one. Once you have a child, Juan will settle down.โ
โI will,โ Debra replied with a smile. But in reality, it was impossible to even conceive with Juan. He didnโt love her, so despite being married, they never shared a bed. How could they have babies?
In her last life, she struggled to conceive Juanโs child, but in his mind, besides Shelia, no one else deserved to have his child. She died miserably on the operating table at the age of 27 due to a difficult childbirth. And in the end, Juan wished for her death.
Debra felt a heavy weight in her heart. Melody, mistaking Debraโs heaviness for an inability to be intimate with Juan, said earnestly, โDonโt worry. Iโll find a way to fix this.โ
Juan escorted Shelia away, and when he returned, he saw Debra and Melody conversing.
โI asked the driver to fetch the car. You go ahead. I need to talk to Debra.โ
Melody was happy to create an opportunity for the two to be alone. Once Melody left, Juan spoke coldly. โWhat games are you playing this time?โ He had thought Debra would stop making scenes, but it seemed she was just up to new tricks.
Debra frowned. โIโm not playing anything.โ
โIโve told you many times. Shelia is just a student I sponsor and will support in the future. She poses no threat to your position. You donโt need to go out of your way to deal with her, let alone use Grandma.โ
โAs I said, I havenโt. If you hadnโt told Grandma about my kidnapping, she wouldnโt have come over, nor would she have caught Shelia staying overnight.โ
Juanโs eyes narrowed. โItโs best that way.โ Debra sensed Juanโs distrust.
