Chapter 137

Randy hushed Erica, signaling her to stop talking. But Debra spoke up, "Yeah, I don't like staying here." In her past life, she had died on the operating table, giving her a deep-seated fear of hospitals.

"Okay," Marion said, getting up to leave the ward. The discharge procedures were completed quickly. Randy went downstairs to fetch the car. After changing her clothes and leaving the ward, Debra glanced at the room next door, where Juan was. She eventually left with Erica.

Outside, Debra saw Joe's car, with Sheila's face reflected in the rear window.

In the evening, Juan woke to see a blurry figure bustling around him.

"Debra?" His voice was low.

Sheila paused and turned, smiling. "Juan, you're finally awake," she said, setting down a glass of water. "I came right after class to see you. How are you feeling? I'll go call the doctor."

Juan was disappointed to find it was Sheila. With a hoarse voice, he asked, "Where's Debra?"

Sheila's smile faltered momentarily, but she quickly recovered it. "She has already been discharged."

Juan pressed his lips together, unhappy with the news. "Is she so eager to leave the hospital?" he muttered. "Get Joe in here."

Seeing Juan's focus on Debra, Sheila bit her lip. "You're so seriously injured, but Debra hasn't come to see you even once. You shouldn't keep thinking about her."

Juan's heart sank. He asked heavily, "She didn't come to see me, even once?"

"No," Sheila replied. "She left with Marion in the afternoon. Theyโ€ฆ" She shook her head, trailing off.

Even though his mind was still clouded, Juan understood her implication. The relationship between Debra and Marion was ambiguous.

Joe pushed open the door. "Miss Miles, visiting hours are almost over. You should go back."

Sheila wanted to stay, but Juan said, "Go back. It's late."

"Okay," Sheila agreed reluctantly.

After Sheila left, Juan picked up the phone. There wasn't a single message from Debra. Even Sheila had visited him, yet Debra had left without even saying goodbye.

Juan called home. "Is Debra home?"

"Madam? She has been away all day," Sophie replied.

Juan's expression turned cold and sullen. That meant Debra was still with Marion.

Juan tightened his grip on the phone. The thought of Debra and Marion alone together was unbearable. He quickly hung up and got out of bed.

A nurse entered, surprised to see Juan already dressed and ready to leave. "Sir, you can't get out of bed right now."

"Step aside!" Juan buttoned his shirt and strode out of the ward.

Joe hurried over to him. "Sir, the doctor said you needed rest. You can't leave the hospital."
