Chapter 141
โYouโฆโ
โFrom now on, I donโt want to hear you mention divorce again. As long as I forbid it, you will always be my wife.โ
โOn what grounds?โ
โJust because Iโm Juan, and I rule Seamar City. If I disagree, you wonโt get a divorce.โ
โYou!โ
Juan threw the divorce agreement into the trash and stormed upstairs. Debra angrily watched his retreating figure. She couldnโt understand why he was so vehemently opposed to the divorce.
In her past life, she had cried and begged Juan not to divorce her. He hadnโt even looked at her. But now, when she initiated the divorce and attacked him, he was reluctant. She glanced at the divorce agreement in the trash. Juan was right about one thing: in Seamar City, his word was law. If Juan didnโt agree to the divorce, she couldnโt get it. It seemed she needed to raise the stakes.
The next day, Debra went to register her business, taking over several of the Frazier familyโs loss-making companies. Arriving at the companyโs entrance, she saw the lazy receptionist and some people playing cards. The Frazier familyโs entertainment company was notoriously mismanaged. Many good artists had left, and it was losing money every year. The Frazier family was barely keeping it afloat, and it might collapse in a few years.
Debra walked in slowly. The receptionist didnโt even glance at her, asking coldly, โWho are you?โ
โIโm Debra Frazier.โ
โDebra?โ The receptionist repeated, suddenly remembering something, and quickly looked up. โMs. Frazier?โ
Those playing cards also straightened up upon hearing the name. Debra glanced at them and asked, โDidnโt you know I was coming today?โ
They lined up, looking guilty.
โWe thought Ms. James would come,โ one of them stuttered.
Debra raised an eyebrow. โSo, they thought it was Ms. James.โ
โI suppose you received the news that Frazier Entertainment is now under my control. Iโll be coming here often. Anyone caught slacking off will be fired.โ
The manager hurriedly assured her, โIt wonโt happen again. We were just killing time.โ
Debra found a place to sit. The office was nicely decorated. Given the Frazier familyโs large investment, this company shouldnโt be losing money. The employees here were afraid of being laid off because they couldnโt find another company as comfortable with such high salaries.
โWhere are the artists?โ she asked.
โThe artists under contract are currently filming commercials. They wonโt be back until evening,โ replied the manager flatteringly.
โThereโs one named Michael Austin. Where is he?โ Debra remembered that Frazier Entertainment had employed a college graduate named Michael. Due to his quiet nature, Frazier Entertainment had sidelined him. Several years later, Michael was poached by another company and became extremely popular. Now, Michael was the only hope to salvage this mess.
