Chapter 142
โMichael Austin?โ
The manager considered carefully but couldn't recall anyone by that name. He said, โMs. Frazier, our hottest talent here is Se Chandler. Should I call him over?โ
Debra glanced at the manager, smiling outwardly but with no warmth in her eyes. โYou have half an hour to bring Michael to me,โ she said, going straight upstairs. The manager signaled to his subordinates before following her. Downstairs, several employees exchanged puzzled looks. โMichael? That fresh graduate?โ But since it was Debraโs order, they had to contact Michael immediately.
Debra glanced around the office. The manager, trying to impress her, said, โMadam, this office was left by the previous CEO. I had it renovated yesterday. Do you find it satisfactory?โ
โNot bad,โ Debra replied, sitting down.
The manager persisted, โSean is the pillar of our company now. Wouldnโt you reconsider meeting him?โ
Debra smiled slyly, making the manager uneasy. She knew things about Sean. He was nothing more than a B-list celebrity who gained fame through scandals. His acting skills were mediocre, and all he relied on was his pretty face. But even so, at Frazier Entertainment, Sean was a big deal.
She remembered how Sean had used a wealthy woman to boost his career at Frazier Entertainment, only to lose popularity due to mistreating fans and staff behind the scenes. His downfall was swift.
Looking at the manager, Debra asked with interest, โSeems like you really favor Sean.โ
โHe brings considerable profits to the company every year. Naturally, I have high hopes for him,โ replied the manager.
โLast year, despite the significant investment, his performance wasnโt outstanding. How much did you take from Sean to praise him so highly in front of me?โ
Unexpectedly sharp, Debraโs words made the manager nervous. He gulped and stammered, โMs. Frazier, youโve misunderstood. Iโฆโ
โLetโs check the accounts,โ Debra interrupted.
The managerโs nervousness intensified. To promote Sean, they had spent a lot of company resources, yet he still couldnโt reach the top tier or bring proportional benefits to the company. Seeing his hesitation, Debra leaned back in her chair. Frazier Entertainment indeed harbored its share of secrets.
Outside the door, an employee timidly entered. โMs. Frazier, weโve contacted Michael, but heโฆโ
โWhatโs wrong with him?โ
โHe doesnโt want to come.โ
โDoesnโt want to?โ This caught Debra by surprise.
The employee nervously explained, โMichael said he wonโt come unless the company terminates the contract with him.โ
โDoesnโt he realize thatโs a breach of contract?โ Debra chuckled.
The employee kept her head down, afraid to speak. No one knew what Michael was thinking. The CEO wanted to see him, but he refused.
Debra stood up, declaring, โIf he doesnโt want to come, Iโll go to see him.โ
